Employees Begin Returning to eBay HQ: Any Impact on Sellers?

eBay reopened its San Jose, California headquarters on Tuesday after being shut down due to the pandemic. eBay CEO Jamie Iannone posted a welcome-back message on LinkedIn.

eBay had asked many of its employees to work remotely from home in March 2020, more than a month before Iannone took over as CEO on April 27, 2020, so he will begin seeing new "real life" faces in the coming days and weeks.

Iannone said the San Jose office began allowing workers to return on a voluntary basis as of today, and said some of eBay's other offices around the world have already opened.

"As we slowly start to come back to the office, that can bring its own range of challenges and emotions. But right now, after spending my first year as CEO getting to know our community on screens, I am thrilled to start meeting our team in person," he said.

The CEO made no mention of how the reopening of eBay's headquarters would impact sellers or customer service. The upcoming eBay Open conference is still scheduled to be an online event next month. (If you attend, let us know what you learn.)

How did closures impact you, and as ecommerce platforms start reopening their offices, do you expect to see any changes impacting your business?

The suds at Walker's must be flowing. I know that I would have to drink if I worked there.

It is another great sign that the world is starting to reopen.  I welcome this actions from any company where it is safe to do so.  It has been a long year and a half.

Marie - please don’t welcome more evil into the world / eBay. All it usually means is more problems for sellers.
