Users Ask What Happened to iOffer Listings

By: Ina Steiner

Ecommerce site iOffer took its site offline on February 25th for maintenance and said it was planning to be back up and running on March 1st. But users are asking what happened to all the listings.

These days we don't keep up with the alternative online marketplace, which launched in the early 2000s (we've found management to be unresponsive to our inquires), but users reached out to us today to ask what was happening.

On Twitter, the company announced on March 4th that it had completed maintenance, and "everyone should be able to access their accounts again."

On March 11, it tweeted, "We are aware several sellers inventory on iOffer have not been restored from the maintenance we are working on individual sellers account to restore their items/listings. Thanks again for your patience."

But as users continued to report seeing far fewer listings than before the maintenance, iOffer tweeted on March 13, "We're hoping to restore all sellers items/listings."

Feel free to share your experiences with iOffer below.

Update 4/1/19: An anti-counterfeiting group issued a press release about the iOffer shutdown, and Amazon Pay suspended the accounts of iOffer sellers, see update here.

iOffer was a joke when I tried it several years ago.  It was so ridiculously slow that it had to be running on SharePoint.

I just logged in to see what was going on and it looks like more than a few listings are gone.  There is exactly one item in toys and most of the subcategories on the main menu go to what's effectively a friendlier looking 404 error page.

Talk about amateur hour.  How many H1Bs does it take to screw in a light bulb?  Maybe iOffer can tell you if they ever figure it out.

That company is TERRIBLE. I had some success getting a few extra sales there. Their customer base is all of the users that were banned from everywhere else and it REALLY showed.

Ultimately I stopped selling there after their creditcard processors blacklisted them and there was no way to pay seller fees. They came up with some overseas company that was a cheap imitation of propay. I decided to keep my identity and close my business on there.

I would stay very far away from this company. It is very telling that they can't even accept creditcards or any reputable US company to accept payment for fees.

They also have absolutely no customer service.

You mean that site is still on the internet??? It's a joke - you didn't get a reply David? Shocking!!! Their customer support was never there. Can't believe serious sellers are still looking for their listings.

At one time ioffer had a shot back in the mid to late 2000's
We set up a shop there and was doing marginally well, better than any of the alternatives out there today..  I was quite impressed at the time.... then the bomb dropped.   some dumba$$ there decided it would be a great idea to do a complete site upgrade ohhhhhh about mid November that year and the site went down...  took weeks to get it back up and when they did it worked sporadically...  the outage lasted pretty much all of December and into January, we went from having decent sales to virtually none that entire Christmas season on there..

I wound up pulling everything off of there and never went back.

That's shows you the "brains" behind it.... complete utter moron's.

This makes you wonder how these ecommerce sites stay in business.  I can imagine it's run by a couple of hippie guys with nothing more to do....like Ecrater.

@Chicago48 - I don't understand the dislike you have for eCrater. I make lots of sales there, and others do as well. I'm sorry you didn't have success there, and my sales started off slowly, but maybe you should have waited a little while longer before you gave up on eCrater.

@iheart, you must sell bulk items.  I sell one-off items...a dress here....a tea kettle there...I don't sell multiple items.

iheartjacksparrow - well bless your little heart that you can turn a product there. I've emailed them several times in the last year - mostly due to your prompting and NEVER go one single reply - they have no customer service - I've been online for 20 years so I'm not completely computer illiterate and ran into one glitch after another

eCrater still has no way to bulk edit items.  It's fine if you have a few listings of high volume but a royal pain if you're selling a hundred different items.  I just can't be bothered to click and click and click for hours.  There's a middle ground between eBay's constant meddling and their eCrater's abandonware.

@Chicago48 - I sell collectibles from the 1970s to the present, lots of limited editions, out-of-production, and rare items. I don't sell bulk or multiples of anything. I have a lot of items that can't be found on eBay or Amazon, which is probably why I do well.

@Whatever - I've never had a problem with getting a reply from customer service, though there aren't many times I've needed their help. Have you tried posting your issue on their Forum? There are plenty of long time sellers who, I'm sure, would be glad to help you.

Most sellers have moved to DHgate, which is out of China I think. Think Ioffer is probably finished - very few listings.

I left I offer at least 7-8 years ago for lack of sales and bad programming.

Ecrater? I deleted all my listings in 2012 when I had major surgery and no idea how long recuperation would take. In 2013 I was finally able to handle "working" all day again and tried to import my then current ebay listings.   BUT since i deleted all the stuff I dumped in 2012, I'm not welcome on ecrater again.. (ever apparently) and they only ever answered one email and the person basically said "get lost" so I'm not a fan of either site.
