Amazon Protection for INR Claims on Buy Shipping Goes MIA

By: Ina Steiner

In May, Amazon rolled out a policy to protect sellers from claims of non-delivery when the seller used Amazon's shipping-label program. But a seller reports Amazon is no longer offer protection for their orders shipped using Buy Shipping.

Amazon announced the following policy in May:

"Effective May 8, if you ship an order on time using Buy Shipping, and the buyer leaves seller feedback solely related to delayed or not received deliveries, you can request to have the impact of the feedback removed from your feedback rating.

"A line will appear through the feedback with the following statement highlighting you were not at fault when the request was approved:

"The fulfillment issues associated with this order were not due to the seller.""

The seller told EcommerceBytes, "For the past couple of weeks Amazon seller support is refusing to follow the Amazon policy of removing feedback for orders that had labels purchased through Amazon. Until last week, they did indeed remove the feedbacks. Now they refuse and they mark the cases as unable to reopen."

We asked Amazon on Friday morning if it rolled back the seller protection announced in May; the company has not responded to our inquiry.

Update 9/6/18: An Amazon spokesperson got back to us today with the following response: "We have not announced any changes to this policy."

YES, I fully understand that this is for AMAZON, but my Professional Level of Certified Pessimism leads me to see this as a STRONG HINT of just how LOUSY the follow-thru will be for anyone LURED into signing on with eBay's DammFool 3-Day Guaranteed Delivery (Seller-Destroying-Program). Ditto for those who TRUST eBay to protect them on Global Shipping Program trouble, too.  EVEN IF they have been Good Shepherds on some PAST GSP slip-ups don't count on it continuing.  ANY company (EBAY) that sets up PUNISHMENT PROGRAM that seems to have NO RATIONAL purpose other than to find ways to BLAST sellers with a 40 percent INCREASE in FVF and reduced visibility to go right along with it.

Typical Scamazon.  They don't want to deal with their liar buyers any more than eBay does.  So of course they just push more back onto sellers.

Labor Day Sunday proved to me just how bad the PO can be. Two boxes dropped outside our front door before/or during a pouring rainstorm that lasted a good hour. The doorbell was never rung and when I checked the tracking on the USPS website, I found that the scan showed that the two boxes were supposedly delivered over 12 miles away! If I were a scammer, it would have been easy to state "it shows delivered but I didn't get it!" I would have had the product and still been able to get my money back. The next day (Labor Day) sometime between when my son who had been visiting overnight packed up his car and his brother showed up, yet again another box showed up and yet again no doorbell was rung to let us know it was here. I sent a complaint to the PO which passed it on to my area Postmaster who said he would contact the mail person that delivering Sunday mail, not one of our great local employees, would be instructed to ring the doorbells and/or knock on the door and they would also be told to leave the item in a protected area. In my case that would be inside the front door as it clearly states on the first address line of our address. I love my PO they are good and efficient, but I have wondered why they some sellers have so many un-delivered packages. Of course, the PO isn't the whole reason, but it would be nice if Amazon would stand behind the rules that they make and back their sellers up instead of letting a rule fizzle out without an announcement about it.

Amazon has crossed off feedback that was related to a non-receipt package last week. I also had a buyer file a claim for non-receipt and Amazon paid the claim. They are still following their May 8 policy.
Your Metrics must also be met in order to receive the service. Here are the policies as stated on the Amazon website this morning:

Negative Customer Feedback: If you ship on time with tracking via Buy Shipping, and the buyer leaves seller feedback solely related to delayed or undelivered packages, you can request to have the feedback reviewed. If approved, the impact of the feedback is removed from your Order Defect Rate, and the buyer’s comment will display with a strike-through and the statement: The fulfillment issues associated with this order were not due to the seller. To learn more, see Can Amazon remove feedback I received?

The customer feedback policy ensures sellers are only responsible for shipping their products on time and are not penalized for delays out of their control.

A-to-z Guarantee claims: If you purchase Amazon's Buy Shipping and ship on time, you are protected against claims where a customer reports problems with delivery. Amazon will cover the cost of these claims and they will not affect your Oder Defect Rate.

Valid Tracking Rate: For all U.S. orders, sellers must maintain a Valid Tracking Rate of 95% or higher to sell on Amazon.com. Go to Valid Tracking Rate to learn more.Orders shipped through Buy Shipping do not require a separate shipping confirmation. If you use Buy Shipping for your orders, Amazon automatically uploads tracking information. You can track delivery status on the Orders Details page. To view the Orders Details page for a specific Order Id, go to Orders > Manage Orders and select the Order Id under Order Details column.
