Amazon Sellers Continue to Deal with Technical Issues
By: Ina Steiner
Amazon Seller Central was down for several hours on Monday, and sellers continued to have problems with inventory and disbursements as of late Tuesday night.
Some sellers are reporting that they are unable to remove inventory or adjust quantities or pricing of existing products because the Inventory Page is unavailable to them. They also say in some cases inventory they manage to post are showing up on the site but not in Seller Central.
We first learned of the Seller Central outage from readers on Monday evening and published a report on Ecommerce EKG
As a reader noted in a comment on EKG, Amazon issued the following Technical Notification dated Apr 23, 2018:
"We are currently experiencing an issue that is impacting the ability to access all or parts of Seller Central. Our engineers are actively engaged in resolving this issue. (04/23, 23:06 PDT)
"We are currently experiencing an issue which is impacting the appearance of your listings within the “Manage Your Inventory” section of Seller Central. We are working to correct the issue and will provide an update once service has been restored. (04/23, 23:09 PDT)"
There are also reports that Amazon Web Services experienced a problem in which hackers hijacked some IP addresses on Tuesday morning that allowed them to redirect traffic. "By subverting Amazon's domain-resolution service, the attackers masqueraded as cryptocurrency website MyEtherWallet.com and stole about $150,000 in digital coins from unwitting end users," according to Ars Technica
. "They may have targeted other Amazon customers as well," it reported.
However, there's no indication that the reported IP hijacking incident was related to the problems sellers have been experiencing since Monday.
