Sellers Dismayed at Disappearance of DSR Reports

By: Ina Steiner

eBay sellers can no longer generate DSR reports, though whether it's a glitch or by design isn't clear. Despite the fact Detailed Seller Ratings are no longer counted as "defects" against a seller's performance, some sellers have continued to find the reports helpful.

While DSR ratings are left anonymously, sellers can often identify which buyers leave positive feedback but low ratings, and then block those buyers from making future purchases.

When some sellers pointed out buyers who leave low marks probably wouldn't wish to purchase from those sellers again, a user explained they had multiple selling accounts and also shared the information with other sellers on Facebook groups.

The problem was raised on last week's eBay Chat session. A seller asked: "I ran a DSR report 2 days ago, now it's gone. A call into CS gave 3 different answers, 2 reps have no idea, one said they eliminated it and the 4th submitted a ticket to the IT department. My question, is this report tool gone for good or is it a technical glitch?"

A moderator responded, "Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm also not seeing the option to download a DSR report. I'm unsure if this is an intended change or a site issue. I'll do some digging to see what information I can gather and update you when I find out!" We have not seen an update on the chat board.

The issue was also reported on Ecommerce EKG.

It's just the beginning.  Meanwhile, on the other platforms that I sell, nothing but stability.

Ebay, what a HOT MESS!! I worked in IT for 30 years, and you don't change the users interface constantly and without communicating with your user community...

Some of the changes they have made recently made tasks more manual requiring additional clicks. Why cause your users more work with a bizarre unnecessary change?

And there IT must not do requirements, and they obviosuly do not do any 'use case testing' to simulate what the user community does. I truly believe that some 20 something inexperience millenial (probably on a H visa from a foreign country) is calling the shots with the 'try this, try that' approach! Its an absolute disgrace that this company continually changes stuff and executive management doesn't put in some controls......

And one other thing about IT. When they make system changes to complex systems like this, they almost always introduce problems or issues and ebay seems to be at it 24x7x365. This signals POOR management with no oversight. At my company, we had change brownout and blackout periods so we did not impact our business at our busiest of times. And we did exhaustive testing to validate that we would not be impactful...Not ebay, they changed the world right before the XMAS holiday season.. Like I said, absolute disgrace!

My $DAYJOB is an IT position in a subsidiary of a major software company that you have heard of. It's not a question of a millennial on an H visa, as we can collaborate with software writers in their home countries just fine.

The issue is whether your development is proceeding along anything resembling a controlled path, and whether new code is being peer-reviewed and tested before going into Production use.

In eBay's case, their new-release coding is all over the place: functions that don't work properly (e.g. Sell Similar on a Second-Chance Offer that breaks the page), bad grammar and misspelled words in user messages, missing features (e.g. the ability for eBay administration to exclude single-use items such as condoms from being counted as ''Refurbished'' items), and an utter inability for the outside world to communicate with anyone who has the authority to make quick decisions and get things fixed.

There are signs of far too many chiefs and not enough Indians behind the scenes, and no clear means of expressing what they want to do or how they plan to do it.

The tech company I worked for - we tested, tested, tested, and tested again, before going "live". eBay appears to not do much testing. Furthermore, it's evident their live session is very different from their testing environment - ie the "hot mess" Frank commented on.

I would assume a glitch.  eBay has been breaking something major regarding their API and developers program on a weekly basis for the past several months.  At this point nearly every single customer contact we have is regarding a glitch with eBay.  They have always had problems but something changed last year.

Another change.

On Seller Hub, you used to be able to sort (as of last week) type of listings - auction from FP.  No longer.  If I want to see the 7-day auctions I have running, I have to scroll down past all the FP listings that have less than 7 days left on them to get to be able to even click to the next page.

This looks very much like an intended change, as the whole section of the page has a new design.

And on the same subject as a_c_green mentions above: a missing feature - to be able to sort by ending soonest on that page, which would be another way to more or less accomplish the same result, in this case.
