Amazon Changes FBA Fees Effective August 30th
By: Ina Steiner
It's time to get the calculators and spreadsheets out - Amazon is raising the fees on certain fulfillment services as of August 30, 2017, and sellers aren't in agreement about just how bad the changes are.
There are different rates for using Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) service depending on whether the sale comes from the Amazon.com marketplace or from the seller through another channel, known as Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF). And it's the latter fees that are increasing. According to the letter Amazon sent to sellers:
"Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) allows you to have Amazon fulfill orders from your other sales channels with the same fast, efficient delivery that powers Amazon Prime and your FBA business. This includes build-in integrations with website providers such as Shopify and 3dcart. MCF fees in the U.S. will be adjusted to reflect the changing costs of fulfillment and to better align with Fulfillment By Amazon's fee structure for orders placed on Amazon.com. The new rates will go into effect August 30, 2017. We're notifying you now to give you time to plan for these changes."
One of the things that's changing: Media will no longer be a separate category. One media seller said they currently pay $2.95/unit and will pay $5.90/unit once the changes take effect.
If you use Amazon FBA's multi-channel fulfillment service, let us know how these fees impact you.
