Amazon Opens Pop Up Stores

Oh, the irony - Amazon is opening pop-up stores in shopping malls around the country. But according to Business Insider, it's not about retail directly - it's about Amazon hardware, which can indirectly help sales on Amazon.com.

The company provided the blog with this statement: "We offer pop-up kiosks so that customers can try out all our new devices and learn about our services like Prime and unique content like Amazon Originals."

Business Insider noted that Amazon's pop-up stores are run by the devices team, not the retail team that opened Amazon's bookstore last year.

And speaking of Amazon bookstores, there will be one opening in Chicago, the fourth in the country, and one Chicago newspaper columnist describes the reaction from her city.

Do you expect to see any Amazon retail presence of any kind in your area? What do you think of the trend?

Looks like every book in amazon store isnt 1 penny like their website.

Their pop up stores will probably be worthless unless it actually sells stuff

I was in Home Depot the other day and they had a big display selling the Echo.  BUT --- the sign said "If we had wifi we could REALLY show you what this thing does."  Huh?  The whole thing was odd.
