eBay experienced an outage this morning (August 26) at about 5 am ET. It's unclear exactly how long the site was unavailable, but it appeared from reports on DownDetector to have lasted for about 35 minutes.
Users said they were unable to access eBay and reported receiving the following error messages:
"Service Unavailable. The server is temporarily unable to service your request. Please try again later. Reference #6.9b3aca41.1472202435.7ba58d9"

Yesterday evening, there were reports that bulk shipping wasn't working, leaving sellers unable to print shipping labels. And eBay had scheduled its weekly maintenance period from "approximately 22:00 PT (10pm) to 22:15 PT (10:15pm) on Thursday, August 25th. During this maintenance period, certain site features may be intermittently unavailable or slow."
During the outage, eBay responded to one Twitter inquiry with this response: "@Isaak528 thanks for getting in contact. We're not hearing similar reports of this. We run maintenance on the site every Friday" - that was at 5:28 am ET, about 4 hours after the maintenance period ended.
It is unclear if either had anything to do with Friday's site accessibility issues. Some of the tweets that came in during the outage:
Nathaniel Y. Downes · Photographer at San Francisco Chronicle: "No news on their Twitter... you'd think they would want to keep us posted to what the ETA is for a return to service. If it was going to be a quick fix they'd certainly let us know so we don't wander off to other shopping sites."

Ebay went down right after I spent 2 hours filling up my shopping cart. I hope everything will still be there when they come back online.
documented the issue with many users reporting the problem there as well. But given the fact eBay did not document the issue, sellers who might have seen an impact on bidding or sales may not realize why.
