Call it the attack of the gremlins - eBay users are reporting strange glitches over the past few days that they believe are having a negative impact on sales. One major issue involves a failure to allow buyers and sellers to view active listings. Another issue prevents buyers from paying sellers.
eBay users are seeing the following message on certain active listings they are trying to view:
This listing (**********) has been removed, or this item is not available. Please check that you've entered the correct item number Listings that have ended 90 or more days ago will not be available for viewing.
There are multiple reports of the problem on both the eBay.com and eBay UK discussion boards. Some say when they try to view the item again, they are able to, indicating it's an intermittent issue. Readers have also reported the problem on Ecommerce EKG.
In one thread about the issue, a UK seller wrote the following about other problems users are reporting: "I talked with other people and there are quite few glitches that are happening which are preventing buyers from purchasing the items as well. I had a Blocked transaction error (seller cant receive money or something like that) yesterday. Tried again and it was a success. So why the error?"
A reader had reported that very problem on Ecommerce EKG on Thursday, and other sellers confirmed they were hearing the same issue from their buyers. The message buyers were receiving was, "The sellers can't accept payments right now. Contact them for help" Error Codes: 70245 70164."
"My biggest fear is that the site is falling apart in ways that eBay isn't even aware of!" one user wrote.
One reader couldn't find themselves, writing in an Ecommerce EKG report today, "My eBay id keeps coming up as seller id not found, repeatedly."
It's not lost on sellers that eBay is investing in new initiatives - and is now replatforming the site - while buyers and sellers struggle with basic functionality. |
