By: Ina Steiner

eBay is hosting a conference for sellers in Las Vegas in July and began emailing invitations to users. The event will be held at the Venetian Hotel on July 26-29, 2016.

"Attend general sessions and a myriad of topical workshops for insights into eBay's long term strategy, updates on your eBay seller tools, and programs to grow your business. Learn how to streamline your customer service, create listings that sell, marketing tips and tricks, shipping programs, and MORE - all shared by eBay and other industry experts."

The cost: sellers will pay $199 to attend "eBay OPEN." (PayPal not accepted.)

Who should attend? In a FAQ, eBay answers this question: "The event is intended for all eBay enthusiasts, particularly small and medium sized businesses who sell on eBay. Whether you're a new seller just starting out, or an established company looking to take your sales to the next level, you'll get access to the latest tools, information and best practices to improve your sales and streamline your business on eBay."

Are you planning to attend the eBay OPEN seller event? Why or why not?

If it was free with transportation and accommodations  I would not go.

No one should go, but I'm sure the cheerleaders will attend.

ROTFLMAO

$199 for what?

I just don't see what value this conference could do for me.

What can ebay offer me that I don't already have?

I suspect all of ebafia's "tips" and "tricks" for sellers would do much for improving THEIR bottom while damaging ours.

Great choice of location, though. Devil Wenig will be able to gamble on still more losing hands.

That they're not accepting PreyPal would be a hoot yet they virtually compel us to accept it. The height of hypocrisy and arrogance.

Wenig, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Maybe you, Griff, and your entire band of thieves will stay there as well.

I'll be weeding the yard during those dates.

Ina and David should have a conference instead.

HA HA HA If I wanted to gamble I would stay home and gamble at any one of 15 different casinos here.

Just pleasure no smoking mirrors gibberish from some overpaid CEO telling me what I'm doing wrong.

Vegas is overrated and way overpriced for anyone with an ounce of common sense. Spend your money vacationing in some nice relaxing country sidelake. Leave the computer home.

Once again eBay is not accepting PayPal for their conference registration fees as, one would assume, they are too afraid of the resulting SNAD claims. And how hard were they laughing when they stated "particularly small and medium sized businesses"? Oh, right, those are the people DW wants to reconnect with. And what "best practices to improve your sales" could they possibly reveal when they don't show all sellers' items, or make them impossible to find thanks to Can't-See-Me? Anyone who's sold on eBay for any length of time has to know this conference is ridiculous.

Would not go if they paid ME $199.00.

eBay & Las Vegas are perfect together but leads to one question....

Which is the biggest gamble, playing in Vegas or selling on eBay?  Odds say that you could make more money with the former than you can with the latter.

They should call this travesty "Ebay Closed" with all the hidden listings they foist on sellers who have the temerity to expect page views and sales.

The contempt I have for this criminal corporation transcends words.

I am surprised that none of these guys at Ebay have yet to get their asses kicked by a disgruntled seller at one of these events.... There can always be a first!

Ming said "That they're not accepting PreyPal would be a hoot yet they virtually compel us to accept it. The height of hypocrisy and arrogance."

Ming is %101 correct. Not only that it smells of a lawsuit.

Why WONT they accept Paypal - what are they afraid of? Should WE be afraid too?

I have no problems with the conference being held, but I had to chuckle at this:  The cost: sellers will pay $199 to attend ''eBay OPEN.'' (PayPal not accepted.)

So we pay how - bag of pennies? Wad of cash? Two chickens and a cow? Pint of blood?

"Learn how to streamline your customer service"

Do they mean make our CS as inept, unavailable, and as poor as ebay's CS is?
No thanks, I prefer that my customers don't hate me.

If I were in Vegas and if it were a LOT cheaper, I would go for entertainment value.  $200 is not going to attract many small to mid sized sellers.

Probably not enough sellers will register and it will be cancelled. Either that or eBay may require their employees to attend to make it appear as a huge success. Pretty sure I heard this when one of these past seller events got ugly.

When I read all of the comments above Wenig's disingenuous "reconnecting with small sellers" resonates. Epic fail.

Maybe their big enterprise darlings and the Chinese will attend.  We all know that it is their show anyway.

The fact that they will not accept PayPal is a head scratcher though.
