Today's PayPal Email Sends Traffic to eBay, However,...

Yesterday we wrote about PayPal's marketing email to users that took a somewhat negative approach by emphasizing problems that can occur with online sales.

Today, PayPal kicked off a new marketing campaign called the 12 Days of Surprise Savings. Today's marketing email sends traffic to eBay, however,... the email features only 4 items from 4 brands:

eBags - Beverly Hills Country Club Newport 21" Hardside Spinner 5 Colors

Hasbro - Furreal Friends Torch, My Blazin' Dragon

ioChic - CHIC Hover board 6.5" UL Approved Self Balancing Smart Electric Scooter

Bulova (OfficialWatchDeals, formerly selling as Official_Buluva) - Bulova Accutron Men's 65B159 Accu Swiss Telc Rose Gold and Silver Dress Watch

The email encourages recipients to "Visit paypal.com/12days to see today's offer and what deal is up next." It links to a promo page on PayPal where it states: "We're delivering 12 PayPal Member deals every day from 12/1/16 to 12/12/16. Log in to your account to start saving." And not surprisingly, the email and landing page also emphasize "returns on us," as did yesterday's email from PayPal.

It's great for sellers to have PayPal promoting eBay, however, it's questionable how much this email will help anyone but the four companies featured. The landing page is a missed opportunity, not drawing people in to other areas of the eBay marketplace. See for yourself and let us know what you think.

I wouldn't give my worst enemy anything that Paypal recommended. Or Fleecebay for that matter.

Both are corrupt companies and not worth my money.

Well still lots of room for improvement, but a much BETTER email than the other one.  At least this one was positive but only for a very small handful of products.

I guess if I was in the market for a Bulova watch (I'm not) it would be a good deal. But by just showing four items, they're really limiting their buyer base. There can't be that many people looking for those specific things. Hopefully in the coming days their deals will be a lot more interesting.

Haven't received either of these mails which is a good thing for my blood pressure.

The Ho at work again -- promote the big guys at the little guys' expense.

Not in the market for any of these things, PreyPal.

How does it benefit Donahoe or anyone at PP to be so limiting on what they are advertising?  Seems to me that if they promoted more items it would be better for PP and other sellers.  Even if they were only the big retailers.

All that brain power at PP and they didn't figure that out!  Amazing!

iheartjacksparrow, I have not heard the brand name Bulova since I sold raffle tickets as a kid for a Bulova watch to be won at a Halloween carnival back in the 1970s.  Watch was donated by a small town jeweler. :)

Since ebay is Paypal's biggest customer, and ebay continues to loose holiday sales, they are both desperate to do anything,

but I guess no one at Paypal got the memo, no amount of advertising will change anything, since most of ebay items is made from and shipped from china, holiday shopping is already long over, way too late,

It will be another dismal holiday sales year for ebay, and Paypal, and they both deserve it, two looser disgraceful companies, joined at the hip.

What is holiday sales?  Last month, November, was the worst month I have had in the 6 years I have been selling.  $3,400.00 and over 600 listings.  Until March of '14, I averaged $9,500.00 monthly and had approx. 250 listings.
I have 100% FB and the same type of items, not clothing, computer parts or jewelry, that I sold before, vintage and antique.
I also ship 75% of what I do sell to 4 states.  Tells me that I am not being seen anywhere else.
Looks like I may do $45,000.00 this year instead of $104,000.00.  I was perfectly happy doing that amount and had no desire to increase.  Now, nothing.

I kind of find it ironic that Paypal is advertising Ebay while Ebay is advertising Amazon. I saw an 4 inch  ad on my Ebay page yesterday for Amazon and with a link to Amazon. I was wondering if Amazon is advertising Ebay?
