Etsy Website Crashes Monday Morning

Reports were coming in on all fronts that the Etsy website was down this morning. Just before 11 am ET, one reader said she was only seeing a blank white page. At 11:30, Etsy spokesperson Nikki Summer confirmed the problem, telling EcommerceBytes "We are aware of some site slowness. We've isolated the issue and rolled out a fix. The site is returning to normal."

Major website monitors reported the problem. IsItDownRightNow showed Etsy was down at 11:04 this morning. And DownDetector showed a spike in reports beginning right around 11 am.

On Twitter, both buyers and sellers complained they were unable to use the site. Representative tweets included one from a buyer who tweeted, "UUUUUUUGH the @Etsy servers are down.... I just want some red raspberry seed oil," while a seller tweeted, "Is Etsy down at the moment? I can't access my store to print orders/shipping labels out."

Etsy reported the problem on its Status page at 10:46 am: "We're currently investigating reports of site slowness." And at 10:59am, it wrote, "We've isolated the issue and rolled out a fix. The site is returning to normal." Users tweeting a response indicated it was taking a while for users to see any improvement.

Any seller who doesn't keep their own records of sales and addresses is asking for trouble! ALL sites crash occasionally, be prepared by keeping your own records. Back ups are avaiavle on PayPal and usually ecommerce sites email sellers the buyer's address information too.
Etsy is resembling eBay more and more every day!

I have as many page hits in the last 7 days as I had in the whole last month...and 2 sales! I was thinking I got suddenly cute or something. It also coincided with adding some new listings but now I think that wasn't the reason for my sudden popularity. I liked it really.

One of the many reasons I don't use Etsy to sell from. I had 5 sales in the six months I was there. I have far more sales in person than on any of the selling sites. Ha, ha.
