Testing Amazon's New Beta Shipping Flow Plan

I was getting a shipment ready to send to Amazon for FBA (Fulfillment By Amazon) the other day, when I noticed they had an option for a "new shipment creation workflow." What's changed? From what I can tell, as mainly a seller of books (and some other media products such as CD's and DVD's), Amazon is asking merchants to fill in the dimensions of each product they are going to ship, and also to specify who will prep the item, the merchant or Amazon.

When I clicked "What's changing?" next to the "Try out the beta: the new shipment creation workflow," however, it didn't give me any additional information. (Maybe that part is still in beta, too).

If I had to guess, it would be that Amazon has created this new workflow process so they will have fewer surprises on their end: they will know the dimensions of each item, and whether the merchant planned on prepping the item themselves (such as polybagging a slipcased set of books or other items that go together, with a "Sold as Set" label).

However, for me as mainly a seller of books, and as one who self-preps just about everything, it is just a hassle to have to enter the dimensions. So I opted out of the beta and fortunately that was easy to do,

Who among you out there who uses FBA has tried this new "new shipment creation workflow," and what did you think of it? Do you plan to keep using it?

If you haven't tried it, do you think you would, and why or why not? Post a comment here!

We haven't yet.  Mostly because we was afraid that once clicked it would be hard to back away from.  Sometimes beta things are a little scary.  Since that is not the case, may have to give it a shot.  Thanks for the info.
