I use tumblr.com and so when ever I list an item for sale online I share it online on tumblr it then goes to my facebook page, twitter, blog, and every other account I have ''linked'' with my tumblr page it allows me to reach all of the social media sites I am apart of at one time rather than going to each specific site. It saves time and allows me to reach customers I would not otherwise be able to reach

After being in the business of buying and selling for over 25 years my number one tip is.

Keep your best buying and selling tips to yourself until you wear them out.

Then you could write a book or maybe even star in a reality show.

My favorite selling tip is:

SET A GOAL FOR YOURSELF OF HOW MANY ITEMS YOU ARE GOING TO LIST THIS WEEK AND GET IT LISTED

You cannot sell your item if it is not listed.

I know we all have lots of items just sitting around waiting to be listed and we wonder why we are not selling more.

The first thing the top sellers tell you is set goals for yourself.

I heard this a long time ago, and use it every day:

Describe your item as if there are no pictures, and take pictures as if there is no description.

Try to make the listing process fast & fun to do!  For example I use eBay templates which works well  if you are selling similar items. I sell CDs, LPs, 45s and have a different template for each
As a Mac user I don't have access to TurboLister so this is the next best thing for me

My favorite tip is that eBay's dime that they charge to schedule a listing is well worth it! I always end my online auctions between 8-10 pm (eastern time), when folks are home & looking to buy! Since I started doing this, my sales have really increased!

It a crowded market you must often differentiate your listing.  We sell a huge variety of items from antiques to electronics to vehicles.  Many sellers copy listings when they go to sell an item.  Your listing should be different especially in a crowded market or niche.  One of the best ways to accomplished this about selling ''lots'' of items or bonus items.  Buyer see a good value in buying a large lot versus adding to their collection in small lots.

Enlist a friend or friendly competitor to keep you motivated. We play "ebay derby" - sometimes measured by number of listings, sometimes dollar amount sold in a week, month, etc. Loser buys manicure, massage, lunch whatever.  Adds another dimension to the drudgery of listing!!

Post in the forums. It causes people to look at your listed items and often results in sales.

We print this little note in red ink ''Use Caution With Sharp Instruments''  and tape it along the top seam of the shipping box (next to the shipping label).  We've been doing this for 9 years and we get loads of compliments from our buyers....it reminds them to be careful when trying to open their box.

In todays market, you must have a cell phone that can browse the web with you at all times.

That way when you have a chance to buy something at an auction/garage sale/estate sale you can instantantly research it a) on site and b) know it's value BEFORE you put any money out of pocket.

Know what you are selling and KNOW what it market value is. REASEARCH always research is my best tip. I make more money from people that sell things on line that they don't know what they are selling . . . .

Do all you can to create a positive buying experience. Excellent (and friendly) customer service will keep your buyers coming back for more. Dispatch their item as quickly as possible. Let the buyer know that you have sent it, and when they should expect to receive it. Make them feel special. Enclose a note in the package thanking them for their custom and tell them that it's been a pleasure doing business with them.
Never respond to a difficult customer in anger. Take time to calm down and make your point politely. Don't get into a slanging match however wrong or rude they may be. Not always easy, but it's worth the effort.

Karen has a good point. One of the ALL-TIME best tactics (still) is to ''keyword stuff''.

Unlike search engines, eBay relies almost entirely on subject keywords to identify relevant searches.

Leaving just one empty space at the end (when you could have added an exclamation point) could be the difference between someone finding/clicking on your listing.

Is your item too basic to fill up all the characters? That's fine, INTENTIONALLY add misspelled versions of your item. Many searches with accidental misspellings are made all the time!

Relax, think about what you're selling, and write the description as though you're talking to a friend!

Here is a wonderful little widget that you might remember
  from many years back!

It seems like these used to be available everywhere … but you know,
they’re not so easy to find anymore.

This great little gizmo measures 12 inches x 14 inches.

Condition is  very good !  It’s been used, but as you can see,
  it’s in really nice shape.
A couple of scratches on the left front, and a corner
that has a tiny poke – and that’s about it!

You won’t be disappointed with this classic widget!

Please enlarge the photos for best detail!

Please contact me with any questions!

So -- be enthusiastic when you write a description!

Get your potential customer excited about the object!

Use strong action verbs and descriptive adjectives.

Write in short sentences, be positive!

Make your customer WANT to buy that item.

Taking the time to write great copy --

-- that's what I attribute my success to.

Be honest with all of your listings. Be honest with your customers. Do not misrepresent yourself or any of the items you sell. Honesty goes a long way and your reputation as a Seller speaks for itself.

Don't over work yourself. Use software or custom programming to put you a head of your competitors. Being able to automate and consolidate daily tasks gives you a ton of extra time to work on growing your business. It's worked wonders for us and what we do online.

Ship FAST, as fast as possible and let the buyer know you ship fast in the description with big fonts. I noted buyers really liked my fast shipping. That applies to ebay or ebay alternatives alike.
