Items are really moving on Ruby Lane. I mean literally...moving. If you haven't looked at their home page in a while, check it out. Keep looking at it and you will notice the featured items will scroll every 10 seconds or so.

On this Antiques Friday (hashtag #ABAntiquesFri on Twitter), we're taking a look at this site that calls to mind a virtual version of a charming block of antiques shops in an old town's Main Street.

And thanks to Palmer Pekarek, Director of Communications and Business Development at, we have not just the outside but the inside scoop on what's selling well this year as we head into the holiday season, and also what sold last year.

"Looking at past trends (Holiday 2011) we saw many sales in vintage jewelry, vintage cookie jars, and vintage toys," said Pekarek. He said that so far this year, they have already started seeing sales in vintage jewelry and toys.

Some toys that recently sold? You sure aren't going to find anything like these at Wal-mart! They include a cute "Antique Rose O'Neill Bisque Kewpie Doll Figurine W/ O'neill Tag," from the shop "Oldeclectics"; and a "Lovely Large Steiff Manni Rabbit With All IDs" from Steiffgal's Vintage Museum Marketplace.

(Some prices for similar Kewpie dolls in that shop range from about $100 - $225 OBO. Steiffgal offers a number of Steiff toys from about $60 for a "Soft And Sweet Sitting Steiff Rabbit" to $900 for a Precious Turn of Last Century Steiff Cub With ID, from one page of store listings alone).

Pekarek said, "We are also seeing sales in holiday decor and decorations and turkey platters." That's not a surprise for this time of year. Get out those big plates and platters...with Turkey Day coming, this is the time of year those sell like no other! (That reminds me, I have got to get my Wedgwood turkey platter listed before it's too late!).

Have you been in Ruby Lane lately? What about your own sales..have you started seeing a holiday uptick yet? Post a comment here!

I actually did surprisingly well the past 2 weeks. I'm hopeful that it's a good indication of what it's going to be like over the holidays. :)

Bonanza once had this.

In the original Bonanzle incarnation of the homepage, random items from all the different categories would arrange themselves, then dispel a minute later to be replaced by more assorted items. That brought a wave of initial sales.

Sure wish they still had it. That was in 2008.
