Looking for eBay Traffic Reports for June

By: Ina Steiner

Sponsored Link

An eBay seller posted a message on Facebook this morning asking, "Here is my June traffic report for my eBay store. Can anyone tell me why traffic suddenly dropped like a rock on June 16?"

It could well be a coincidence, but that happens to be the day eBay suspended its cashback affiliate program. eBay had been paying companies such as Ebates, BigCrumbs, FatWallet and KickItBack affiliate revenue for any purchases that resulted from traffic they sent its way.

The head of eBay's U.S. Partner Network JJ McCarthy told me at the time that the goal of suspending the program (through October) was to quantify the incremental value of these partnerships and to price them properly.

One seller is not enough to determine the effect of eBay's cashback affiliate-suspension move on traffic, so check your reports and let us know what you find.

What traffic trends are you seeing for the month of June on and off of eBay?

Judging by the auctions I have closing soon, and based on the 9-10% sell thru in the past year under Dunderho, I only have 3 bids so far. Usually 5-6 by now. Won't know until they close but doesnt look good. And compared to the 50-70% BEFORE Donahoe, it's all a JOKE anyway. I'll relist these items immediately on Bonanza & Ecrater & sell more that 10% in a week there.

Apparently eBay has found the fix for the low traffic levels being reported since discontinuing their affiliate program.

I just went to look at my traffic reports and received a page error stating the service is not available and to try later.

I guess eBay figures you can not complain about low traffic counts if they deny you the ability to access the reports.

My reports are showing fine, and my traffic is consistent with previous week, months & year.

Sorry to all the eBay naysayers out there....after 8 years of primary full-time sales on eBay,  traffic & sales are as robust as they've ever been.

@ Dean

And the name of your eBay business is?

Didn't think so.
More vaporware.

Ever notice ''sellers'' here claiming extraordinary eBay sales don't advertised who they are.

Proof is in the pudding eBay supporters.

I simply don't trust the malcontents that post on this blog. I don't trust that you or any of your ilk won't begin your own "self fullfilling prophecy" by buying from other sellers and filing claims against us with the intent of getting your refunds, leaving negative feedback and low DSR's, thus proving all of your eBay negativity.

You and all of your ilk are what is bringing down eBay; nothing else. Most likely you're all a bunch of small-time, low-end sellers, bent on getting over on buyers, and you show your discontent when you're caught by slamming the organization that caught you.

I've had my own website since 2005, been on eBay since 2003 and Amazon since 2009. Amazon comprises 20% of my sales, my website 20%, while ebay stands at 60%.

I treat each and every customer like gold (regardless of the venue they've purchased on), and in doing so have never experienced the depth of concern and overreaching buyer "protection" issues that you all rail about day in and day out. This is not to say I don't have my issues, but simply that, you low-rent complainers simply need to find a better way to air your concerns than this.

That graph says a lot about the true state of the eBay Marketplaces and them trying to stand alone on their own two feet ...

So much for the value of this "brand" and the Ho's destruction thereof.

And, Dean, I'm a disgruntled buyer, not a disgruntled seller.

Dean sounds like he sells bandannas...

Seriously, you should get out more, Dean-O. Read eBay articles on the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, SJ Mercury News and read the pleasant comments there...oh wait, it's the same. Hmmmm....

As Dean said ...

''You and all of your ilk are what is bringing down eBay; nothing else.''

Then Dean goes on to tell us who we are etc. Interesting.

Interesting that any eBay proponent would admit that eBay is on the way down and that it is the disgruntled sellers who are solely responsible for eBay's now terrible reputation. It certainly couldn't be policy after policy developed and designed by eBay management specifically to get rid of the small seller. Oh no. That couldn't be it.

My sales for June are up over last year on both Bonanza and my website. To be specific June is up 138% over all venues and YTD 16%.

June is usually very flat for me in fact I have closed Felicitations for the summer at 200 West Main.

Oh! Almost forgot.

AND I am still small time, I like to think of myself as good value rather than low end. My customers come back again and again so I guess they don't feel too "gotten over".

Dean, you are quite safe from me, I will neither buy nor sell on eBay. I am still a registered user in good standing, no negs at all.

Have you talked to a professional about your feelings that we are out to get you? I understand this syndrome is quite common among eBay sellers but it must be worrying.

I just happened to look at my traffic pattern for may store last week and the previous year I averaged 300 to 400 views per day this year about 50 or 60.That would explain why this months sales have hit a new low grand total of around 800 for the whole month .I used to average 3000 a month with at least a few 4 and 5000 months a year as well.Sales were pretty consistant at this rate from when I started in 1999 up until 2008.Gee what happened in 2008? Oh yeah new management decided ebay was broken and they were detemined to fix it .Well great job guys .

Dean, we have eyes & can gauge traffic. Further, we can judge SELL THRU. Before Donahoe, sell thru in my case was 50-70% monthly, but by the end of 2009, 9%. And this is across the board at Ebay. Buy.com has gotten as high as 15% but most months is at 9%. So yes, we are discontented buyers & sellers. Discontented at paying more & more & getting LESS & LESS for our money. Discontented at poor merchandise selection of poorly made chinese junk offered(shoved) down our throats when we searched for something completely different. When searching for a Volkswagen toy, a pink wifebeater from a mega seller was first result. WHY? Explain why a pink slutty t shirt with a naughty slogan should be first result in a search for a battery operated VW beetle toy by title. Which finally showed on the THIRD page. Explain why I have an item that was my top seller for over 10 years on Ebay until Dunderho & his minions futzed up search & now the item only shows up after PAGES of imported junk offering FREE SHIPPING to a country other than the USA (And with expensive shipping TO the USA). If my sales hadn't gone down the drain due to Ebay's MORONIC policies, garbled search & outright support of CRIMINAL ACTS, I would not be discontented. I would still be a silver powerseller paying Ebay $20K a year instead of selling on their competition, AMAZON! Actually, not even competition anymore, Ebay is SO FAR behind the curve they are not even in the game anymore. Go back to king JD & report on that, stooge.

Dear Dean, assuming you are being truthful, please appreciate that performance wise, you are the exception on eBay. And please appreciate that your sales today would probably be significantly better if policies from 2000 were still in place.

I suggest that people ignore Dean's attempt to incite. This pops up every couple of weeks on this blog, and I always find it amusing that someone "anonymous" will come in here and call posters malcontents, or unsuccessful small sellers.

You only have to look at traffic data to see how popular this blog is. If eBay is so well-liked, how come eBay Ink or Tame Bay don't have 1/10th of the traffic (according to Compete and Alexa) that this blog has? Because people come here to read unfiltered experiences of eBay sellers. So you have to wonder -  are people like Dean coming here from eBay, or eBay Propoganda blogs because they WISH they had the audience that is here?

Go post on eBay Ink, Dean. He needs the comments. LOL!

Ebay is DEAD
Low Traffic
Low sales
Low Watchers
Good till NEVER sold

Ebay does nothing for me no more, but stress me out, make me sweat and suffer worrying if a buyer will hit me low by accident with DSR or falsely

Since I do not sell 400 items in 3 months, just a few liars and I am out of the game

I am seeking a way to get away from this torture and abuse Donahoe has inflicted on all of us

My income has been decimated since 2008

Every listing should be FREE ! Then when the 50 run out, I quit listing, I am not wasting money on 3 views and 0 watchers

Unless your a mega seller, I suggest we all find a way to call it quits on this most hated site

How in the world could ANY eBay seller see the suspension of the eBay's affiliate program as being good or neutral for their business?  Any angle you look at this move, it WILL translate into less unique visits (i.e., LESS buyers) to the eBay website. I guess eBay's executive officers see it as being good for eBay's short term revenue; they definitely don't seem to care about its long term, that's for sure. So, how could any eBay seller commend (or not scold) eBay for something that will DEFINITELY reduce all future traffic? Even if it meant a reduction of only 10000 or even 10 new visitors to the website per month, it still means LESS traffic (i.e., there's no way that cutting an affiliate program will generate MORE traffic!). On top of it, eBay still doesn't advertise on TV like it once did years back. Really, eBay doesn't do much anything to truly help sellers /generate more business (at least for the overwhelming vast major of sellers); in fact, they do the exact opposite, and make it progressively more and more difficult. They are really really good at making selling on eBay progressively more and more difficult. So much so that I'm convinced that eBay is being controlled or influenced greatly by some big retail conglomerate/alliance that took over as a means of cutting/controlling competition online... hey, that's what I'd do if I were them.

Chris Dawson and Sue Bailey are eBay gatekeepers, as well as being active sellers on eBay. They don't allow serious criticism of the eBafia on Tamebay. Everything on their website is approved by eBay first.

Ebay of today is about as relevant as myspace of today. Both had the whole unique market no one could touch & both lost the game.

my traffic report looks about the same as last year, mybe a touch higher.  however sales have been a different story, did better this june than last, both in number of items sold and in $$$.  what is strange is that sales were pretty mediocre until around the 22nd when they took off.

the place i am seeing the real dip in sales in on amazon.  it's gone almost dead.

My traffic reports for June are about the same fom the 1st until today so I don't think the affiliate programs have much of an effect on what I sell.  I agree with others that Ebay continues to go in the wrong direction with millions of members who don't seem to buy much anymore.  Ebay has a terrible CEO and the economy is bad--not a good combo for ebay sellers

I can't compare stats because in past years I closed my online stores for the summer and enjoyed extended vacations, because traditionally apparel sales are slow in June and July and pick up again in August for back to school.

But I can post using my store name, so you know I'm real. And I can tell you I've been selling on eBay for 11 years now this summer, and it is nothing like how it was say 5 years ago, for example. Thankfully I have two ecrater stores as well.  I dropped my eBay store altogether and just run a few fixed price listings and use up my 50 free auction listing each month.

The majority of my sales and traffic are in a seasonal store from Sept to Jan, but I'm still getting sales and 100 page views a day, while my eBay listings don't get that in 30 days.
