eBay Removes Selling Activity from My eBay Summary Page
By: Ina Steiner
Initial reaction from sellers to changes eBay made to the My eBay account pages today has not been positive. Sellers posting on the eBay boards about the changes do not seem pleased with eBay's decision to move the "selling activity" modules from the summary page - especially those who had customized their My eBay pages.
One AuctionBytes reader wrote, "eBay totally changed the My eBay summary page today. And it sucks! Please write on this so eBay knows we don't want this change! A "summary page" should be a summary. We want a page to look at a snapshot of our selling, sold, bidding, and won all in one place. Why would eBay change it when it was perfect the way it was?!!? Come on eBay!"
Sellers on eBay's discussion board also complained that they would have to click more times to see information that had all been previously available on the summary page.
According to eBay, "You can now access all of your selling activity in the "Sell" menu on the left side of My eBay pages. If you subscribe to Selling Manager, your selling activity is in the Selling Manager menu."
Many were caught off guard by the changes, which eBay announced today along with other changes to My eBay, including the ability to see a 3-year history of purchases on the marketplace.
Update: eBay spokesperson Johnna Hoff responded to our inquiries (apologies for a delay in updating this post). She said the changes were designed to help buyers quickly determine items on which they should take action, which has the potential to increase sales activity. And, she said, sellers could still see all selling activity on a single page on the Selling Manager Summary page (Selling Manager subscribers) or on the All Selling page (non-subscribers).
"Sellers can make either of these pages the first page they come to after clicking the My eBay link at the top of eBay pages by changing the default My eBay page. (Go to any page in My eBay, click the General Settings link at the top right corner, then choose "All Selling" from the default menu.)
"When updates include business-impacting changes and sellers need to take action to implement them, we let them know well in advance."
