eBay - PayPal Glitch Report

By: Ina Steiner

Sponsored Link

PayPal confirmed there is a bug affecting eBay transactions in the "Confirmed Address" status. A reader had written to report that they noticed on their Paypal account, all items were showing up as being sent from Confirmed Addresses, however, the email sent from Paypal shows Unconfirmed. "We normally do not look at the emails only what is shown on the website. We just happened to catch this today."

PayPal spokesperson Jamie Patricio said the fix for the bug is scheduled to take place in the next couple of weeks. "There is no other way for the sellers to determine whether or not the buyers have a confirmed or unconfirmed address. However, the status of "confirmed" or "unconfirmed" regarding a buyer's address is a non-issue since it is no longer used as a determining factor for Seller Protection. They do need to be sure they are following the remaining steps for Seller Protection, but need not be concerned with the unconfirmed address."

In another report, a reader said that some of their listings had disappeared and pointed to a  thread on the clothing discussion board.

"While editing my listings to make them compliant with the required September changes on eBay and cross checking them with my inventory I was taken aback at how many of my listings had simply vanished."

eBay spokesperson John Pluhowski said, "We've conducted a complete review with three CS teams (TSAM, Listing Tools and Selling Support) and met with Supervisors and frontline staff on your inquiry. We have not received any feedback to date from the seller community to suggest that there's an issue. Nevertheless, in an effort to be responsive, please encourage any seller encountering this issue to contract customer service directly."

So if you notice any problems with disappearing listings, send a report with full details to eBay customer service.

Ebafia's lips moved, and they LIED again:

"We have not received any feedback to date from the seller community to suggest that there's an issue. Nevertheless, in an effort to be responsive, please encourage any seller encountering this issue to contract customer service directly."

I began reporting this issue in 2004 along with several others that ebay denied so they didn't have fix them or issue refunds.

It's NOT a new issue any more than double/triple listings and resurrected, already sold item listings is NEW.

Complain too much and ebafia will retaliate against you in a myriad of ways.

LIE, LIE, LIE. That's all these corporate sociopaths know how to do besides STEAL.

That's because there's no f'ing way to contact support. Have you tried to use the contact us form lately?

Paypal ran smooth for years until ebay starting meddling with the code this past year. And low and behold, same stupid azz f ups that become synonymous with ebay.com marketplace.

I dont even think these people would know how to unravel a roll of toilet paper

Don't let them get away with this Ina! If the buyer goes directly to a chargeback and skips the Paypal dispute process you will lose if the charge failed AVS and was shipped to an address other than the billing address. You will lose and Paypal will pull the money from your account everytime!

With all due respect, it's the Steiners stopped calling these intentionally created major revenue generating schemes "glitches."

They are SCAMS.

Let's review. The shipping address has missing for weeks in many PayPal emailed payment notifications to sellers.

The confirmed shipping parameter is messed up which could as pointed out above cause sellers to be slammed with unfair reversals.

We've just been through a LONG period of time in which many sellers received payment notifications intermittently resulting in late shipments and DSR problems.

Every other week PayPal has a "glitch," and inevitably it's a "glitch" that either does or has the potential to take sellers' money away from them.

No, these aren't "glitches" at all. It's how desperate corporations swirling around the bath tub drain make extra money.

And this doesn't even touch on the recent ebafia "glitch" SCAMS that aklso generate revenue for ebafia.

If they weren't SCAMS, then both ebafia and PayPal would be busting their backsides trying to get them fixed. Instead, neither entity appears to have any sense of urgency to "fix" these "glitches."

Ebafia - the country's largest criminal enterprise.

The laws of mathematics tend to rule out the possibility of these constant problems being simple 'glitches', especially when given consideration of the larger context.

They need the money. Bad.
They have been shown to be bald-faced liars over and over.

What is wrong this this multi-billion dollar corp that it cannot and has not run correctly, ALWAYS to ebay's benefit?

Has there ever been one single glitch that favored the customers?

Those rolling reserve and 21 day hold portions are running smooth though, aren't they?

Regardless of whether there is concrete proof, these issues are hardly a testament to ebay and paypal reliability  and trustworthiness.

I echo Ming's calls to write complaints to any and all gov't agencies.

Don't overlook spreading the word about ebay's criminal negligence/incompetence in real life either, where there are no paid trolls running interference games

@ do what

Dear ebafia/PayPal employee

Apparently you never got as far in your math education as statistical probability so that even you can understand the principle at work here.

When "glitches" occur that favor either ebafia or sellers, then the law of probability states that given a fair sampling such "glitches" should over a period of time be evenly distributed between both parties.

For example, do what, if the "glitch" sampling as desc ribed above contains 100 "glitches," then about 50 should should favor ebafia and about 50 should favor the seller.

Got it?

How many of us can think of 50 "glitches" in the history of ten of thousands ebafia "glitches" that favored sellers?

Less than dozen in all likelihood which is MATHEMATICALLY IMPOSSIBLE if indeed these ebafia centric "glitches" were in deed glitches.

But they're not glitches. They're mostly SCAMS and as such I believe they should be reported as such.

So what, I'm sure you can find a course on one of those online universities in freshman math.

If you would spend as much time doing something constructive and less time spurting hate you might get something done. As it is you are like a lot of politicians. Rattle the ranks and then stand back and watch the action.

If Donohoe can't make the cash honestly he just goes ahead and steals it.

His diamond boys aren't cutting the mustard because they can't produce the level of sales needed to sustain the beast.
They have higher prices on their merchandise than everyone else has because they have ebay the "middleman" to pay.

Amazon wipes the floor with ebay. Consistently beating every price any diamond seller on the site has to offer.

Amazon must have some sort of program that slashes prices automatically up to the minute according to the lowest on ebay. It's extremely difficult to find any single item with a lower price on ebay than at Amazon.

I just bought a wii fit this afternoon. I checked ebay first than Amazon.
Who do you think won my business?

Ebay couldn't best match me to a better deal. There might have been a small sellers listing somewhere out in the ether world of best match on ebay where all the little paying customers listings go but I couldn't find it.

MORONIC JD should have stuck with showing the little mom and pops listings and maybe they'd make more sales.

His diamond boys aren't cutting the mustard....That is true. I see now that the top rated seller badge is all over the site. Many of the sellers who have it are veteran eBayers who have been selling from the beginning. If fact many have a small amount of listings this to the contrary of what I thought would happen.

Leads me to believe that jd now realizes the big listing sellers are not going to cut the mustard, and he is falling back to perhaps plan number two. In an effort to keep sellers who do sell from not leaving he is issuing out TR'd seller badges to whomever has a high fb and high dsr's.

That top seller badge is going to stir up more drama. That was just "invented" to limit the amount of discounts to the actual real powersellers.

A ton of larger sellers aren't going to qualify and if they do it won't be for long. Top seller badge is another unnecessary stupid maneuver that is going to cost and cause more trouble.

The powerseller limit was also reduced so now there will be oodles of so called "powersellers who really don't powersell at all. They just look great on paper for the wallstreeters who belive anything the donuthole tells them. Look see all our "powersellers" the numbers have quadrupled!!!

oohhh ahh yah

He simply tells them 2011 we'll be on top of the world and this years decline wasn't as bad as expected....they all clap, JD gives off his famous evil grin and thinks to himself..."I can't believe I got away with it again!"

They have no idea the sellers on the site are going bonkers, sales are at all time lows and buyer theft is skyrocketing to insane levels.
Google isn't running their listings, competition is chomping at the bit,  they smell blood from the wounds and are going to attack it from all vantage points and be very successful because
nobody loves ebay anymore and will flee like rats from a fire at the drop of a viable alternative with some clout.

Ming-
I guarantee that those who argue with you here (provided they are not ebay plants) will eventually come around and see what you mean.  Five years ago virtually nobody would listen to anything truthful about eBay and anyone who said anything the least bit negative was just anti-ebay or a basher.

Now look, all of those "basher's" predictions seem to be coming true, and AB's user base has turned anti-ebay themselves.

Corruption is every where.  The only exception with ebay is that they are a technology company and can get away with more because of the lack of oversight and regulation.  Could you imagine the uproar if all of a sudden GM required all buyers to use GM financing?  And likewise for all other car companies?  And fast food chains and department stores?  You'd have 300 credit cards that couldn't be used for anything other than the specific store that issued them.  Would that be OK?

Because ebay requiring Paypal only is just ONE instance.

btw - if you can't prove Ming wrong, don't argue with him.  You'll just end up looking like an idiot down the road.

Judging by this blog I get the impression that Ming is starting to really hurt ebay. Some of the responses by the obvious ebay plants only indicate the desperation they must be feeling.

Ebay's finished time to move on it was a great idea ruined by greed if only google would wake up the real possibilities here.

We can only hope.

We deal with google checkout on our website. They answer your questions fairly quickly. The analytic feature is nice and you will find your items on product search. You can view your impressions and see all your item that are listed. Since eBay tried forcing paypal down our throats with threats if we did not use it we could not sell. We simply stopped selling.

Google didn't ask or force anything on us, so we decided to use GC on our website instead. All in all I am satisfied with their service thus far. Our buyers are also satisfied with their service and found it extremely easy to use.
