Etsy Experiences Technical Difficulties

By: Ina Steiner

Etsy experienced "general site issues" according to a posting made at 5:00 pm on its announcement board. It took the site offline for unscheduled maintenance and, at 5:45 pm, said it believed the problem had been corrected.

"5:45pm EDT: We believe the problem has been corrected and are watching things closely." It did not reveal the nature of the problem.

I've been on Etsy for years now...only sold 25 items in all that time.  Makes no difference to me if they're down or if they've closed shop.  I have no idea of the inner workings of that site.  They've chosen to make it too difficult to find out.  I'll stick with Bonanzle.

The vast majority of my items do not qualify to be sold on Etsy. I have bought some nice things there and have no complaints.

I do like their stance on informing site users when there is a problem. It is refreshing to observe such a sense of responsibility.
