eBay Regional Seller Conferences to Kick off in Atlanta
By: Ina Steiner
eBay has canceled its first eBay On Location event, which was scheduled to take place Orlando in February. eBay is replacing its annual conference, eBay Live, with a series of regional events that includes classes on building and growing an eBay business. According to an announcement by President of eBay Marketplaces Lorrie Norrington on Monday, the first eBay On Location event is now scheduled to be held in Atlanta in March 2010.
The last eBay Live national conference was held in Chicago in June 2008, only months after John Donahoe replaced Meg Whitman as CEO. The event was a low-point in eBay's history, and with sellers reeling from the radical changes eBay was instituting, they expressed their dissatisfaction loud and clear.
Last year, eBay canceled the 2009 eBay Live, which had been scheduled for Atlanta in June, and had announced the 2010 eBay Live event would take place in Orlando in August 2010. eBay cancelled that event in July, and now it seems Atlanta will replace Orlando as the home of the inaugural "eBay On Location" event.
There are still some Unanswered Questions about eBay On Location.
Update: More information about the reported locations of events (Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Dallas, Phoenix, Seattle) and curriculum are published in today's Newsflash newsletter. In addition to the usual business/how-to-sell on eBay sessions, there will be moderated round table discussions with local experts and an eBay "speed dating" networking session.
