Help wanted:

Applicant must be normal human being. Must interface with nonhuman executives. The successful candidate will be vaguely familiar with the eBay experience and be aware that sellers are rumored to exist...somewhere out there.

The person in this role should possess a positive attitude and a good sense of humor, which will be handy when explaining to sellers why they should pay Ebay and Paypal for giving their items away to criminals. The successful candidate should also have experience working in top-heavy, chaotic and tyrannical organizations, with a demonstrated ability to hide from approaching executives.

Responsibilities:

Must be flexible and adapt to rapidly changing environment with a different set of rules every day.

Establish metrics and evaluate results against objectives. It's OK to just make them up.

Identify and execute sellers who object to the hijacking and corruption of Ebay.

Job requirements:

Must maintain a shrine in cubicle to Consultant Gods, complete with burning incense and the occasional sacrifice of a small seller.

Experience using eBay as a buyer and/or seller is preferred. Experience defrauding sellers via chargebacks and SNAD scams is a definite plus.

Experience working in organizations involving entrepreneurship or small business, in order to acquire a constant flow of new sellers to replace the ones that drop off Ebay in disgust.

Must submit to having ''Yes, John, I agree!'' tattooed on forehead. Additional consideration given for ''You're a genius, John!'' on lower back.

This new position signals that ebay is showing The Griffster the door. In view of ebafia's recent austerity measures, a -- choke, cough -- 'seller advocate' sounds more than a little redundant to the rather pretentious title of Director of Seller Engagement.

The first seller who should be introduced to the media is the one The Ho interviewed in front of the bathroom door. The visual metaphor is perfect.

My nominee for the second seller who should be introduced to the media is Bruce Hershenson.

Every time a former seller whose life and business wer ruined by Tbe Ho) sees some phony media hype coming out of the San Jose hell hole should contact the media outlet and TELL THE OTHER SIDE OF STORY of endless greed, thievery, deceptions, fraud, and mismanagement.

WE WILL DEMAND EQUAL TIME EBAFIA!

Goodbye, Griffster, We hardly knew ye, Seller Advocate.

@summer in the city

Hysterical!

Hey JD,

You want sellers to re-engage????

Try getting rid of your asinine policies (and yourself while you're at it).......

Sellers were engaged until you tried to '' disruptively innovate'' ebay into amazon. No wait, overstock. No wait, walmart. No wait, (fill in the blank)

Ebay sellers would like to post a classified ad of their own:

For a CEO that is actually competant and understands the business they are running.

This sounds like Marketing. Are these guys Marketing, or is that somebody else? No wonder the company is so whacked out, you can't even tell which division does what

This may have already happened. The last post by grief in seller central was 10/5 when he said needed to reply to 2 more questions for the September thread. He hasn't been back, no October thread started.

You would think that someone who had earned a Bachelors Degree would be smart enough to realize this position has been incorrectly titled.

The title really should be Sacrificial Scapegoat.

JD is simply trying to create and fill a position with a body that can be thrown to the wolves and sacrificed when the Board of Directors starts screaming at JD for the horrible performance of eBay's marketplaces.

It's just like in the old Star Trek Series....every time you would see a new face playing a crew member, you knew that character was going to be killed off in that episode.

Griff jumped the shark when he stated that in every case he ever reviewed, the seller was at fault in any dispute. Good luck there, griffy, try making up your salary selling tobacco smell perfume on feebay. yup, RicRoe, anyone but Scotty wearing a red shirt was cannon fodder, just like this guy will be.

Hey JD, Ebay had the best community of highly engaged sellers until you called us NOISE, set out to destroy 70% of Ebay's culture to change it, then sent in Guff with the Unwashed sellers coup de grace. Large corporate scum sellers & Chinese Carp mongers have no engagement with the venue, they are using you. Where before, Ebay's best buyers were generallty sellers too, how many of your Doggy Diamonds have spent $1 buying on the site? You had an awesome army of Ebay Ambassadors, tons of goodwill & free advertising, but you threw it all away. We are finding a new world, MUCH LOWER FEES and reconnecting with our buyers that are taking lifeboats away from Best Match. You want a true director of seller engagement? Hire me.
You couldn't handle the truth that I would tell as a 10+ year seller on Ebay, Silver powerseller until YOU came on board, $1000+ a week until YOU destroyed our sales. Sellers are now engaged to new sites & ain't coming back. Bonanzle.com & Ecrater.com both sell more goods at higher prices for me then Ebay currently, and cost FAR FAR less or NOTHING to sell! Amazon moved 7 BIN items for me yesterday, Ebay 0. Ebay is a zombie, still walking, but DEAD.

The grasping at straws has begun.  Finally, the beginning of the end for John Donahoe's disruptions.  At SOME POINT, the thick craniums around the board table must figure out that this guy has absolutely no idea what the Ebay "community" is about, and every idea of how to destroy the good thing Ebay once was.  I guess when he has knifed enough holes in their golden parachutes, he'll get the boot.

"Experience using eBay as a buyer and/or seller is preferred."

Preferred? Only 'preferred'. How on earth is anyone going to be able to do this job if they don't know what it's like to buy and sell on eBay?

Oh, I guess the same way all the incumbent MBAs already do it - very badly, and without a clue of what it's like to actually sell on eBay.

OT but funny.. On this forum a few months ago, I said if Neg Meg was elected, she'd layoff state workers & sell state property on Ebay. Well, she did a TV interview today, saying exactly that, she wants to layoff 40,000 workers & sell State land & goods on Ebay! I guess somebody reads Auctionbytes, LOL! State Of Cali the next doggy diamond seller.
