eBay DevCon in the Home of 'Da Bears'
By: Ina Steiner
About 700 developers showed up to learn more about eBay's platform roadmap at the eBay Developers Conference this week in Chicago. The big announcement was yesterday when eBay revealed Project Echo, an open platform for developers to build applications on eBay using Selling Manager.
Anthony Sukow of Terapeak said his company has already built an app for eBay. His was the first company to build an eBay app for Facebook, he said.
Another developer, Alex of GuroOfSales.com, said the conference was going well, and reported last evening's activities were well done!
People are generally attending sessions and networking in the halls. Twitter adds a new dimension to such conferences, perfect for those with ADD who love to multi-task. If someone screws up, it's bound to show up on Twitter first!
I wandered up to the RoofTop Garden of the convention center and discovered great views of Chicago. A long-time resident pointed out some of the sites (see the photo gallery for pics of Soldier's Field where the Bears play, and the Park Formerly Known As Comiskey Park where the White Sox play).
Chicago is a much friendlier city than Boston from what I have experienced thusfar. The weather is spectacular, though it's cold inside! Hope to see you here soon, if not, keep checking back for all the news from eBay DevCon/eBay Live!
