eBay Slaps Name on Slots, What's Next?

Scot Wingo blogged yesterday about running into eBay-branded slot machines in Las Vegas. Last November, we wrote that then-CEO Meg Whitman had allowed the licensing of the eBay brand to be used on these one-armed bandits.  As far as we can tell, the Cleveland Leader broke the story, and it will be comforting to know that eBay' slot machine will be in good company, standing aside such favorites as Star Wars, Indiana Jones and even The Sopranos (ohhhhh!).

We wondered what other licensing deals Meg may have struck before she exited San Jose to become a cheerleader for Mitt Romney and John McCain in their presidential bids. Here are some of the deals that we may not yet know of:

Watch for some of these products at a 7-11 near you. And if you find any other eBay-branded items, send us a picture and if it's suitable, we'll post it here!

Better be careful, Ina, or eBay may sue you for illegal use of their logo & trademark.

I thought that was my last snide comment on this subject but I was wrong.

Does the casino pay your winnings or does ebay take a fvf?

Let me guess payment on the winnings is paid out through Paypal so that they get their cut. Oh and do they hold your winnings for up to 180 days so that they can verify you are the actual winner?

Ok it is out of my system now. Once again Yuck.

Hahahahaha!  Good one, Ina!  Some eBay sellers will need those ciggies to calm their nerves, the rum to drown their sorrows, and the condoms for the next round of eBay fee increases :-)

And don't forget that Meg presided over the world's largest marketplace for pornography which many people find highly objectionable -- especially the Christian conservatives who normally vote Republican or at least they claim they find porn offensive.

I've said it before on other topics but if the NcCain website received 1,000 emails complaining about Meg's slot machines and pornography, how much longer would she last on his staff?

After mounting pressure from the media, Democrats, and perhaps from a few Republicans, yesterday McCain finally deep sixed that fine Christian preacher with a west Texas mega church who just said Jews were dying so they could meet Christ at the rhapsody.

And the same could happen to Meg. Maybe she doesn't belong in the McCain campaign, either.

I do find it offensive.  Every time I look at it, it offends me.  I thought the offense would wear off.  But the more I look at it, the more it offends me.  I look at it frequently.  And I am frequently offended.

I bought it on eBay.

I'm afraid we'll see more of this as the economy slows down even more and people are buying less.

Let's hope they're all using those "pleasure packs."  We sure don't want any of them (eBay management) BREEDING....

Meg's decisions in licensing the eBay brand don't effect me, unless they bring buyers to the site. The slots are just another link in their advertising campaign.  Who cares where the logo appears?  Could eBay's reputation get any worse?

David, your choice of pictures, to make your point, is in very poor taste. Don't degrade Ina's blog with your attempts at humor. Go create your own blog for this type of entry.

I don't know about anyone else, but I sure won't be trusting the "Ebay Pleasure Pack" if it becomes reality!  Safer my rear! Ebay has lost all safety as far as I'm concerned.
