Former eBay CEO's Next Job May Pay $1 a Year

By: Ina Steiner

John McCain named former eBay CEO Meg Whitman as a possible cabinet member if he is elected President of the United States in the Fall, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Ever since it became public that Whitman co-chaired Mitt Romney's national finance committee (she switched camps when Romney dropped out of the race), it was rumored that Whitman was angling for a top spot in the next administration. (Yes, Randy, you were correct.)

But the billionaire businesswoman will have to take a pay cut. According to the newspaper, McCain said he would ask his cabinet to serve for "a dollar a year." The author  joked, "Of course, when you're a billionaire, it's a little easier to give up that $166,700 annual salary from the federal government."

GACK! Well, that leaves McCain out of the running for my vote, that's for sure. She'll probably convince him to auction off the other cabinet posts... or do BIN.

You people are pathetic. I often wonder if you would have the balls to say this stuff to her face if you came face to face with her. Get over the jealousy!

Whitman can't top what she's done with eBay in the business world.  The political arena is the next obvious choice for her.  But, she'll do it her way.  Becoming a cabinet member doesn't require a popular vote. I wouldn't be surprised it that was just her first step.  She has business sense, lobbying savvy, chutzbah, oh and let's not forget her $billions$. I wonder what her views are on international relations...

As a Republican, this will seriously make me consider voting for the other party if Obama gets the nomination......Meg and Hillary would have to runoff in the most despicable female political figure, but it'd be close.

I can imagine Her Highness Meg's suggestions to McCain on taxation.  "Just take it all and leave them enough for a few gallons of gas and a loaf of bread a week - tax free holiday every few months to throw a bone their way".   And I'd have no problems saying that to her in person, she's the epitome of corporate greed in my book - and greed is what got her her billions - fished right out of hard working people's pockets - yea, she's already prepped for gov't work.
