Stupid Postage Errors on eBay Canada

By: Ina Steiner

An email came in to me from a Canadian buyer with the Subject line, "Stupid Postage Errors on eBay Canada," reporting that she was seeing "Items of less than $10 with over $11 million postage, that kind of thing." It was such a classic subject line, I used it for the title of this blog post. She went on to describe the problem.

The stupid postage amounts often come and go, and often the postage shows right on the actual action pages. But on search pages they are frequent, and just as frequent, I will check back in My Ebay and see these amounts. Next time I look, the amount may or may not be back to normal. I have written to ebay in the past but only receive back the robot acknowledgement of sending them an email.

Tamebay blogged about the same problem on eBay France, calling it "The $4.6m postage glitch."

I have been contacting eBay for 3 years about the fact that it is not possible to charge taxes on insurance.  There is a small box at the bottom that says, charge taxes on item and shipping, but insurance can not be chosen.  Now that all the head management has left eBay Canada in the last 6 months, I have given up on getting this changed.  The reason I put this is that there is no proper postage solution for Canadian eBay sellers and I too only get automated responses about shipping issues.
