Pink-Slaps on the eBay PowerSeller Board

By: Ina Steiner

I'm receiving complaints that someone is harassing users on the eBay PowerSeller board by reporting them for signature violations. Here's one reader's complaint: "The PowerSeller Chat Board is being maliciously attacked by one suspended user who is reporting bogus signature file sizes to LiveWorld. eBay refuses to address the serious issues,..."

Another reader wrote, "It appears to be a witch hunt of sorts."

Oh please, a bunch of bullies who were reported for reportable infractions.  There's no witch hunt. If they followed the rules there would be nothing to report.  These are the king and queens of the report button and for once they're on the receiving end and they're crying foul.

There's no story, but you bought it, hook, line, and sinker.

"serious issue"  are you joking?  Serious issue would be Best Match or search issues.  This is people feeling entitled, nothing more.

Anonymous comments are worthless.  This looks like a serious issue, affecting dozens of regular posters, none of which can be classified as ''bullies,'' excepting those with an agenda and an itchy trigger finger, of course.  Over-moderation on shaky grounds is not a good reflection of the new culture Mr. Donahoe is attempting to instill among the faithful in eBay corporate.

I received 12 "reprimands".  They were because I had added an "April is Autism Awareness Month" signature!

Even LiveWorld and the eBay Mods haven't bothered reviewing their own silly policy RECOMMENDATIONS and SUGGESTIONS (note the ''recommendations'' or ''suggestions'' does not equate to VIOLATION) as stated:

The following guidelines are suggested for signatures:

1. It is recommended that all images found in a signature not exceed a total area of 50 pixels by 220 pixels

2. Signatures should be static. Blinking, moving, fading or changing images in a signature file may be of concern to others. Persons using such signatures should do so only within board communities where this practice is accepted and welcomed.

Miss Itchy Finger (suspended seller) professes to go out with a bang!

Craziness! Autism awareness is much more important than the size of a siggie. No ones makes them go to the PS board!

We have had some serious issues on eBay here of late and the size of ones ''siggy'' on the boards is of the LEAST concern to MOST of us at eBay. This was one person with what appeared to be a vendetta, and it was utterly ridiculous. Raspberry had a VERY appropriate AUTISM AWARENESS siggy that it was SO wrong for her to get slapped over, and who is the loser who would report THAT? Some folks have nothing better to do. The comments above mine are made by some people who KNOW eBay policy and tell it like it is. There is not a thing wrong with THAT!

The fact is ebay IS deleting posts by the thousands! They are banning many posters that actually support boycott efforts! I have recently seen many of influential posters just sort of ''disappear'' from posting on the boards.

''Daphne'' a pink at ebay has a lot of ''posters'' that are her personal little spies on the boards. And they have teamed up to make sure that certain members posts either get flagged down or the poster is downright banned from posting!

The whole thread mentioning the ebay scandal of the ''padded listings'' was yanked TWICE by ebay.  Yet they publicly claimed that was an ''accident''! How convenient.

The ''pinks'' were called out for censorship along with the locking down of threads. They responded with BS. Ebay is watching a lot of people that are speaking out and are handing out suspensions to those members!

Ebay, you have gone too far. YOU are now the one that is being watched!

What are you going to do now that all of those listings generated from your ''1 cent listing'' promotion/scam  is over and your listing numbers have fallen at the tune of 5 MILLION listings in the last week!  You better have another ''sale/scam''!

Here is yet another example of ebay's ''pinks'' censorship for all to see!

The moderators have moved a lot of the boycott threads to the back of the search findings and when these threads are reponded to, no longer rise to the top of the thread search as being ''refreshed'' as other threads do! And some of them have simply been LOCKED DOWN!

These are some of the threads that have all been moved to the back of the list and can no longer be updated to the top of the list!!

1. ''Where is the May boycott thread?''
2. '' BOYCOTT!! BOYCOTT!! BOYCOTT!!
3. ''MAY 1ST BOYCOTT THREAD - PLEASE PLEDGE YOUR SUPPORT HERE.'' (locked!)
4. '' BOYCOTTING? SAY HOWDY FROM TEXAS (the lone star state) ''
5. ''ARE YOU STILL BOYCOTTING? SO ARE WE!!!!!''

You can now find these threads at the BACK OF THE LIST! Heres a link.

Sure
looks like they are trying to hide something to me!  Explain THAT ebay cheerleaders! On second thought don't, those of us that KNOW what is going on can see for ourselves!

The worst part of this is that the mod(s) are allowing this person to use their resources to carry out a personal vendetta against some folks who post to the board.  I've had dozens of posts pulled because of signature size.  There is no hard and fast rule on signature size, but only a recommendation.

The fact that the mods ignore these important nuances makes them look foolish.  I'm hoping for a common sense resolution soon.  We just want to help each other and have a good time.

Report bullies!  Oh pulleeze!  The discussion boards are FULL of report button addicts.  Its their hobby and they get great joy out antagonizing posters and then reporting them for every little infraction.  Ebay's answer has always been ''ignore them''.  So...powersellers are being harrassed?  Ain't that special....

As we have been discussing, APRIL IS AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH, and we had a very nice thread going about that and the entire thread was removed, apparently due to an itchy reporting finger and a lack of the little letters OT (off topic) in front of the thread title. OBVIOUSLY if the title was ''April Is Autism Awareness Month'', it could very well be UNDERSTOOD without that miniscule addition of 2 letters that it was an OFF TOPIC subject! I am INFURIATED that so many people who have experienced this devastating disorder had posted their HEARTS and STORIES there, just to have an eBay moderator SEND IT TO THE TRASH! If this is an indication of things to come, then something WICKED this way comes!!!

And over on the ''seller central'' forum they recently just deleted a whole new thread that had the word Boycott in the thread!

Ebay, hurry hurry!!! Suppress any opposing voice!  You lying scammers!

Heres more proof of the padded listings and censorship on the forums!

Well, GREEDBAY is doing it again!!! Ebay has been removing posts and posters for over 2 months...Now most threads that have ''boycott'' associated with them are being moved to the last page of seller central in the discussion boards...some you can post on, others are locked up solid!!
I was one of the original posters about the ''SDC PADDED LISTINGS''...my thread was titled:
((LQQK LQQK LQQK))=A MUST SEE!!!=EBAY PADDING LISTINGS??=YOU BE THE JUDGE!!!

It was up for 4-5 days with hundreds of replies about the supposed test or glitch auctions from shopping.com..I was then sanctioned from the boards a second time, this time for 30 days...it did not violate any posting policies...but My thread and I went ''POOF'' again...Now, last night after posting on the threads that have been to the back page, I was put on vacation once again, for the 3rd time...I again did or said anything to violate ebays policies, but was put on suspension anyway...no emails, just like the 1st 2 times....no warnings, just like the 1st 2 times...nothing....JUST ''POOFED''!!!! I did mention the SDC padded listings in my posts, though...GREEDBAY is really going out of their way to get rid of the factual information...

We were there when ebay deleted all the SDC listing right before our eyes!...right after a few of us ebayers started asking the SDC seller questions about his auctions and shipping charges...PEOPLE THIS DID HAPPEN!!! They started to delete them around 3am in the morning...then they say a test?? a glitch??? an accident??? Nothing but contradictions from them...Go look at these utube links to see for yourself what happened...

om/watch?v=mePI-UWDGOE
thse
2 videos above have alot of info...ebay also banned my fellow member blondie(on ebay) thch123(on utube from the discussion boards for making the ''SDC PADDED LISTINGS'' video...They will continue to try and stifle us, but we are keeping track and making hard copies of all the listing removals as well as the ebay threads that have been removed or locked up on the last page by ebay...also, all the ebay users that have been sanctioned by the pinks!!! GRREDBAY is shooting themselves in the foot with their actions!!! Come May 1st, the FLOOD WILL COME!!!
BOYCOTT VICTORIOUSLY MAY 1ST TO INFIFNITY AND BEYOND!!! STRENGTH IN UNITY!!! TOGETHER WE WILL DEFEAT THE CORPORATE GRREDBAY GOLIATH!!!

This article and complaint has nothing to do with any "boycott" activity. These slaps took place ONLY on the PowerSeller Board / Forum and is related only to one particular witch hunting suspended seller who was finger happy by reporting SIGNATURES, ordinary photos and a few other harmless threads that had absolutely no relevance to "boycott" gaming. Don't confuse the issues at hand.

And by the way, it's also amusing that the eBay Mod ''eBayMaeve'' has refused to respond to numerous complaints, or to address the SUGGESTED SIGNATURE GUIDELINES or to answer any emails from PowerSellers regarding these hundreds and hundreds of bogus Pink Slaps.

Ebay has always censored the message boards, and they've gotten worse lately.

When I left Ebay after selling for 8 years, I posted and had lots of responses -- but the Pinks sunk that thread super fast and then they deleted it.  And they've done that to other sellers who have posted about leaving too.

However, it's amusing to hear that the Ebay cheerleaders are getting pink-slapped for signature violations.

It's about time they got worked up about something though.  Seems Ebay can cheat users every-which-way, but the only thing that heats them up is someone reporting their post violations?
