Amway Does PayPal (Etsy Does too)

PayPal is officially mainstream. The company announced that Amway reps and their customers may now use PayPal to purchase products and services available on its website. Amway is a well-known "direct-selling" company and was recently named the number one online retailer in health and beauty, by Internet Retailer.

From the websites of major consumer brands, including airlines, to niche marketplaces, PayPal is extending its reach. Online marketplace Etsy announced recently it will soon offer sellers the option of paying their bills using PayPal as it looks to improve its checkout process and shopping experience. You might be surprised to find the results of a recent survey of Etsy shoppers and their preferred payment method - see Friday's AuctionBytes Newsflash article for the scoop.

Only old-timers will remember that PayPal originally launched as a way to "beam" money from one PDA (the pre-smartphone device) to another. How 1990's.

What is totally mind blowing & shows the corruptness of eBay; is how much different Paypal operates if the sale is NON-eBay.

SNAD disputes & chargeback’s are very few off eBay but totally ridicules with eBay sales via Paypal

WHY????

The mainstreaming of Pay Pal is behind  every change eBay has made in the last year. Its all about getting Pay Pal.

Which is fine, if people feel safe using eBay because of Pay Pal, that is great!

But eBay -- come on, where is the shopping cart. How can the worlds largest eCommerce site not yet have a shopping cart? Customers have to check out individually and have no color, size, etc. options. This is the reason people are leaving eBay. They get frustrated and will pay a little more on Amazon so they can ship with a cart.

Please, please get a shopping cart!!

eBay actually don't have a budget for push (shopping) carts. Heheheehe.. They should provide it soon if more people request for it.

@ 2009 or Bust!

eBay used to have a shopping cart. It was called eBay Express (until that went belly up). The technology to do a shopping cart is there, they're just choosing not to do it.

@Bob H

We had two ebay stores since 2003-2008, and our stores were on ebay express. We never had shopping carts.

I'm not sure if anchor stores may have some type of different set up, but basic ebay stores never had shopping carts. Buyers could purchase multiple items before checking out, but it still wasnt even remotely close to a real shopping cart setup found any an fully integrated online store.

Paypal loses money with a shopping cart. It seems ridiculous but Paypal gets, I think, a 30 cent per transaction fee plus a percentage of the sale. When you put it all in one shopping cart it is only one Paypal transaction. They would lose and they are greedy.

How does ebay do shopping carts? There are auctions and buy it now listings. If I bid on something and do a BIN, I add them both to a shopping cart? I can't checkout with an on going auction. I think this is the reason there is no shopping cart. However, ebay will probably think of something to resolve this.

I just bought some price tag stickers from Kiefers Auction supplies online, and I used paypal. I wouldn't use it on ebay though. Why would I do that to some poor seller? Paypal would hold their money for no good reason, and then that would spoil my delivery. Anyone who uses paypal on ebay should think twice. Using it elsewhere seems to be no problem.
