Shoplet.com Listings Disappear from eBay

By: Ina Steiner

Shoplet.com listings disappeared from eBay this afternoon. When contacted, Shoplet CEO Tony Ellison said he could not comment on his eBay sales activities and would not answer any eBay-related questions. Ellison confirmed he was continuing to sell on Amazon.com and on Shoplet.com's own website.

A source had told AuctionBytes in the fall that eBay was working with ChannelAdvisor to bring Shoplet.com onto the site under the Operation Catalog program for Diamond PowerSellers, and over 2,000 listings were loaded onto eBay in October. Shoplet's eBay DSR rating for "Shipping and handling charges" had been 4.1 at one point, and currently stands at 4.4.

hahaha shoplet becomes the first mega diamond powerseller to go down in flames!
They had no idea how much time and effort it takes to sell on ebay these days. It isnt worth it for any of these companies, because ebay requires that you hold each and every customers hand like a little girl crossing the street, or else DSRs go down the tubes. There is no way that these huge companies like buy.com and shoplet can survive on ebay, unless ebay makes special DSR rules for them.

How did some small website only listing 2000 items and just over 100 feedback even get to be a Diamond Seller? Hey Greedybay, give me free listings, no DSR & reduced fees, and I'll post 2000 items in a month too!

Hi evildave,

. There is no way that these huge companies like buy.com and shoplet can survive on ebay, unless ebay makes special DSR rules for them.

Well, that's easy. Rumor has it (h/t Randy Smythe) that the Diamond Sellers do have special DSR rules - at least Buy.com does.

Of course, it's ridiculous to think any of these Diamond sellers will have any loyalty to eBay, once they see that the promised sales don't come and what extra profits they do get are eaten by higher customer service costs. Wonder how long Buy.com's contract runs for?

Frankly, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that eBay doesn't offer the Diamond Seller deal to its existing customers who are at or near that level. I have heard several large sellers point out their existing listings, and say they could reach Diamond status instantly if only eBay would give them the same deal. But it won't. Has anyone heard of a major corporation running such a blatant "customer DISloyalty" program? It boggles the mind.

Newsflash!
They have one fresh listing...
for a pair of heavy-duty industrial strength earmuffs.

Seriously, after seeing some of the items and the various stats, there is no way that either the seller or ebay is gaining anything much, only there likely to pad the listings and deceive the stuckholders.

Now Shoplet is back with a grand total of 26 listings. eBay claims a ''Diamond Seller'' would give it 10,000 or 100,000 times more listings than that. Maybe eBay selected Shoplet to try out a new tier, the ''Cubic Zirconia'' sellers, made up of ''Diamond Sellers'' who are too lazy or disinterested to even bother with listing even when its free for them. eBay returns the favor by not bothering to fake the Shipping and Handling DSR (which is still at 4.4 for Shoplet). Why do I even post on this topic? I don't even check prices on eBay anymore, let alone buy or sell. Morbid fascination, I guess.

4 negs + 1 neutral = 5 dissatisfied buyers... out of 122 transctions.. equals a buyer satisfaction rate of 96% which should place these guys in lowered status with their low stars.. Wonder where they stand.

Looks like this seller is even being given a privilege override on links policy. See item# 170282685061.
Just as when they started listing with Channel Advisor managing their account. Note the Shoplet.com logo in their image.

Just saw 30,525 results found for this seller...
I guess one of the policies they can bargain is DSR ratings...

eBay is and no longer will be eBay again.

They are baaaaaaaaaack: 30K listings.  They changed their s/h price/policy and re-loaded.

You can do things like load/unload/load 30K items when you pay no listing fees.

You can offer paper towels for $2.20 plus $7.50 shipping (50 cents additional for additional items) when you pay no listing fees.

You can push little guys right out of a search/category when you pay no listing fees.

But, at least eBay is getting what they say they want: High DSRs, Free Shipping... oh, wait...

Looks like Ebay is helping Shoplet already! Last night they had 4 negative feedback and now suddenly one disappeared...only 3!

I bet there DSR's will strangely show up as 4.7 instead of 4.4 This is something worth watching.

He won't answer questions because what ebay is doing with these diamond sellers is illegal and would cause the FTC & Department of Justice to force them to cease those operations. Ebay has engaged in consumer deception by not disclosing to shoppers the distinct affiliate they have with these merchants. And that they have a "get out of jail card" in regards to the feedback star rating. I highly doubt ANY of them will talk to Auctionbytes, but that's OK. When the DOJ investigates all of them, first one that squeals and cooperates gets immunity for engaging in a monopolizing CARTEL.

LOOK AT THE FEEDBACK> Auctionbytes screen shot shows 4 negatives. Then look today. It shows 3 NEGATIVES. Look in the full feedback entries and you'll see, no where does it show that feedback was removed. Ebay just erased it totally. Where was the communication to buyers that special policy was removed? Everybody is you want the diamond sellers to be treated the same as we do, file at the FTC as a BUYER and cite ebay is manipulating the feedback policy for those they engage with for preferential treatment. The biggest mistake ebay is doing is they are deceiving consumers. The FTC doesn't care if you're a seller, but they darn well will go after ebay for consumer targeted deceptive trade practices

Once again, Shoplet has many listings with Keyword spamming.

Gone yesterday, back today doing the same thing again.
