Former eBay Search Guru Now at Cuill
By: Ina Steiner
Search-engine guru Louis Monier made a stir when he left eBay for Google in June 2005 in what became known as the start of the "brain drain" at eBay. Monier has now left Google for startup Cuill (pronounced "cool"), a company that says it is pioneering a new approach to search but remains in somewhat stealth mode.
Longtime eBay users may also remember another name that has popped up at Cuill: Vince Sollitto had been head of PayPal's public relations department prior to eBay's acquisition of the online payment service. He joined many PayPalers in leaving after the acquisition. Sollitto became Communications Director for the U.S. House Select Committee on Homeland Security and then spokesperson for California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Sollitto, pictured next to "PayPal Damon" at the infamous PayPal party at eBay Live 2002, is VP of Communications at Cuill.
