Airport Security Grabs eBay Seller's Balls
By: David Steiner
The free balls eBay gave away during its eBay Live conference in Boston were supposed to help users relieve stress by squeezing them. But for at least one seller, the possession of the balls turned into a very stressful situation.
When going through the security check at Logan International Airport in Boston to go home, he was pulled aside when the eBay balls were discovered in his carry-on bag. The problem? They were filled with a liquid gel, and if you've traveled lately, you know you are limited to 3.5 ounces of liquid that should be kept in a plastic baggie and shown to security staff.
The seller was distraught that a conference give-away turned into a reason for scrutiny, especially when he (and security guards) realized he was carrying a keychain that contained a box cutter.
Some days, it doesn't pay to get up in the morning. Happily, our now ball-less seller made it home in one piece and can laugh about his eBay Live adventure.
