A new program on the CNBC cable station debuts tonight. "Business Nation," a monthly, one-hour newsmagazine focusing on the stories behind the business headlines, features a segment called E-fencing, described as follows:

Pawnshops have long been the place for burglars to sell their stolen goods. Not any more. Now, a major source of stolen property in the country is eBay - the world's largest on-line auction site. CNBC Senior Correspondent Scott Cohn investigates and has advice about what everyone needs to know before placing a bid on eBay.

Business Nation Premiere, Wednesday, Jan. 24th at 10 p.m. (ET)

Well it looks like there may be a double whammy for eBay today. Earnings may dissapoint and this show will point out some of the negatives facing eBay.

And CNBC will run it over and over again for years to come. LOL

Well isnt that just great. Focusing on the 1% of the bad things of something rather than the 99% of the good. Thats what is wrong with the media these days. Why not do a story on all the people that make a living off of eBay and take a couple powersellers and show their stories. Or focus on the fact that you can still get some really good deals on eBay. Just my opinion but I guess for some reason people seem to love hearing the negative stuff. Heck look at American Idol. More people vote for it than they do for our own President and more people tune in to watch contestants get put down than they do to watch the State of The Union address. GO figure!

Sorry to monopolize the post. I found it interesting what one CNBC anchor had to say about eBay's "1% is stolen items" problem.

"Its interesting how Best Buy and Target never have to say we only have 1% stolen items."   She said with a smirk.

Ok I just watched a re-air of this program. I have to agree with Rob Chestnut. The retailers need to protect their goods better and you wont have that problem. If its stolen they are gonna sell it somewhere right? So beef up securtiy.
Like I said before I wish they would do a story all the powersellers out there making a living from eBay. Gotta love the media!!
