GigaOM Says Skype Developers Not Happy

By: Ina Steiner

In trying to justify its huge outlay for Skype, eBay points to Skype's ecosystem ("if you have the largest ecosystem, then you will be the one who will actually figure out the long-term monetization model"), of which developers are an important constituent. In that case, this article should be of concern. GigaOM says, "Some third party Skype developers say that the company still has one of the worst developer programs out there." (link)

While eBay has come a long way with regard to the way it treats its own developers, I'm sure you could find a lot of dissatisfaction as well. I'd venture to say eBay treats its affiliates better than those creating fee-based seller-productivity tools.
