eBay Live - Still gearing up

The Meet & Greet at the Beach Monday night was fabulous. My colleague Jim, who is acting as videographer for AuctionBytes this week at eBay Live, and I interviewed sellers standing in line to get into the beach for AuctionBytes.TV. (You'll be able to see video from eBay Live on the AuctionBytes.TV website - also linked to from AuctionBytes.cm.)

I was surprised at how many sellers were first time attendees. One trio of women came to meet each other for the first time after having been online friends for years. But one man had attended all previous conferences, making this his fifth!

Clarissa and Carolyn, the two women who started the Meet & Greet event four years ago, joined Jeff Grass from BuySafe, which is sponsoring the event for the second year, came on camera to talk about the event. Julie from BuySafe was the glue that held the event together.

There were "eBay celebrities" spotted, including Skip and Karen McGrath, Jim Miller and Marsha Collier.

When I got back to my hotel room to begin writing, there was an email from Vendio waiting for me. The company acquired a majority stake in Andale, which had been rumored since the Andale CEO Linda Hayes left recently.

I've been waiting for years for consolidation among the long-time auction-management service providers, even as new ones continue to enter the market.
