Yahoo China Takes a Lesson from eBay?

By: Ina Steiner

Sponsored Link reports that Yahoo China is testing a new business search service and there will be cross-integration between Yahoo China and Alibaba. Yahoo China is run by Alibaba's Jack Ma, whose Taobao auction site has been battling fiercely against eBay Eachnet.

It's not clear from the posting exactly what that integration looks like. But given that eBay is working with Yahoo in the U.S., it's seems possible that's where Ma got the idea. In the U.S., Yahoo is now serving up all banner ads on, and you can see eBay and PayPal ads on Yahoo pages. (More on the Yahoo-eBay agreement can be found here.)

On the other hand, eBay announced its agreement with Yahoo in May 2006. Alibaba and Yahoo China entered into a strategic agreement in August 2005, and it may have been Yahoo's intention all along to integrate with Alibaba and Taobao.
