A Locking Mailbox for Online Shoppers and eBayers
By: Ina Steiner
This is a great idea - a locking mailbox for eBay shoppers. I came across a press release for the Oasis Mailbox - it can safely receive parcels up to 5" x 5" x 12" and keep them intact, secure and dry - and is approved by the U.S. Postal Service. Vanessa Troyer, co-founder and vice president of Architectural Mailboxes, said in the press release, "This is an ideal mailbox not only for online shoppers or telecommuters but also for those who receive prescriptions via mail. And let's not forget the 200 million eBay members. eBayers typically send and receive parcels through the mail. We designed this product with those consumers in mind."
The company says the Oasis Mailbox is fully powder coated prior to assembly and has a top shroud that is all one piece, which makes it ideal for mounting it into a pilaster or column. It is made from heavy-gauge galvanized steel and stainless-steel hardware. It conveniently has a location for outgoing mail discreetly located inside the parcel delivery door. The Oasis Mailbox is available online at www.HomeDepot.com. The smaller version, Oasis Jr., is available at select Home Depot stores. You can call Architectural Mailboxes at 800-464-7491 to find a nearby dealer.
I did a search on eBay for "Oasis Mailbox" and found 10 listings plus 17 in eBay Stores. I did a search for "eBay mailbox" and found 1 listing for a mailbox that is not an Oasis (nor is it a locking mailbox). Then I did a search for "locking mailbox" and found 150 listings.
A locking mailbox sounds like a great gift for an eBay shopper, I'm not sure how you'd make sure the size and aesthetics would appeal to the recipient - don't forget to consider the curb appeal factor.
