Have Fuel Prices and Inflation Affected Your Sourcing?

About this time last year, Kenneth Corbin wrote about rising costs and got advice about the best way to handle pricing decisions for EcommerceBytes readers trying to keep up. Last May, the average price of gasoline was $2.85 a gallon. Today, a gallon of Regular will cost you over $5 - and nearly $6.50 in California!
The cost of gas has risen so quickly in recent months that the IRS just increased standard mileage rates for the final 6 months of the year for those who deduct auto expenses on their taxes - normally it sets the rate once a year.
Sellers scouting stores and yard sales for products to resell may be scrutinizing their route and routines to cut down on mileage.
But you can only cut costs so much - the other option is to raise your own prices in order to maintain margins.
With no immediate relief in sight, we wondered if rising gas prices and inflation have affected your sourcing? Have you had to make adjustments? We've put together a short 4-question poll to gauge what online sellers are doing to deal with this new reality.
You can find the survey hosted on SurveyMonkey, and we'll publish the results in an upcoming issue of Newsflash. Hopefully, before the price of gallon of gas hits $7.00. |
