Amazon Announces New Fees Effective June 2021

Amazon announced new seller fulfillment fees that will take effect on June 1, 2021. In December, the marketplace had announced it was postponing its annual fee hike until June, telling sellers, "We are doing this because we want to provide stability and support for you during what will likely remain a challenging winter as vaccine distribution gets underway."

Today, Amazon said, "While many other companies passed along costs through surcharges and fee changes in 2020, we absorbed over $5 billion in COVID-related costs on your behalf, and are absorbing billions more in the first half of 2021."

Amazon said most referral fees were not changing and said, "we are making only modest increases (about 2-3% on average) to fulfillment fees, in line with or below industry averages."

"We will also reduce certain fees, like the returns processing fee, which reflects feedback we have received from sellers and our continued efforts to reduce costs."
