Upcoming Changes to Feedback on eBayBy: David Steiner |

Feedback on eBay certainly has taken a few left turns since Pierre's initial concept that allowed trading partners to rate each other. In probably the most dramatic deviation, Sellers will no longer be allowed to leave Negative or Neutral feedback for Buyers. There are some other changes, which can be found here: http://pages.ebay.com/services/forum/new.html but this is the most interesting paragraph: Call 1-877-222-0856 and leave a 60 second message about what you think of these changes.

Let's circumvent their system. What we really need is a site like auctionbytes to set up a list that will be accessible to all sellers on their mailing list. Sellers could add buyers to this list as they encounter problems. Then, if we get someone technically savvy, we can have a button that will copy the list to our blocked bidder list. That way, we can all help each other. Of course, then 5000 BBL's wouldn't be enough...... |

Dean you can't be for real. Your demands of sellers really shows your ignorance. EBAY is @#!$ed if there are many more maniacal buyers like you on their site. |

Dean Holloran (Hollered and Ran?), garbanzo, and Dean Burke, and the other schizoid buyers expressing their sadistic sentiments: Today I received the little $2 item I had bought on eBay. It was fine, came in a reasonable amount of time, was a reasonable cost for shipping - the seller made about $1 on the shipping, in a simple little envelope with no styrofoam peanuts and no bubble wrap because it wasn't necessary. He listed, I bought, he shipped, I got it. End of story. I gave him positive feedback and I expect he'll do the same for me. He couldn't give me the feedback first, because he had NO IDEA if I'd then say a) I didn't get the item or b) it arrived broken or c) it wasn't as described, or d) I want my money back or e) I'll give you a negative if you don't do as I say. As a seller, I learned all of this late in the game. |

A current eBay Australia petition is focussing on making buyers enter the dispute process before leaving negative feedback. |

The simple fact of the matter is that the new FB changes will do nothing to make eBay a safer or more pleasent place to do business on for either buyers or sellers. |

QUESTION FOR Alex, Ming, those of you that seem to be versed in this...How/where do I look in the near future to find any class action lawsuits that might actually take place concerning these new changes? I'd like to be part of them for sure. I really do not believe that several of the changes are legal, especially pertaining to holding funds in Paypal for 21 days or until pos FB is given. I've been reading the blogs for 3 days now. I'm so frustrated. Been selling on ebay for 9 years 3 as a silver powerseller, 4.9 to 4.8...I'm going elsewehere, but really don't know where yet. Most of the items I sell are the unusual ''one off'' kind, not the mass marketed new stuff. So I'd love to know a good alternative. I'm just disgusted. I thought sweat shops, indentured servitude were illegal? To top it off, I discovered I have a 15 year old bidding on one of my auctions....he confessed to it in an email he sent me with a question about the product!!! Can you believe it! So much for being protected by their ''verification'' system!! Again, I'd appreciate any help in answering the ''where would I find if any legal action is being taken'' question. |

Boycott Yes. Illegal Yes. Class Action. Yes. I am an e-bay member. I cannot be discriminated against because I am a seller - I should have the same feedback rights as any member of the e-bay community. What happened to "every member has a right to leave feedback" ? |

Buyer protection? I just bought an item that I found to be misrepresented once I took delivery. So the seller is only responsible to refund what I paid. Why should I take on the expense of return shipping? He'll just sell the item again, without any worry of losing a penny. Blah! |

Mary, sellers' rights to feedback should be taken away since sellers can, and frequently do leave unfounded retaliatory |

WOW- apparently all that cocaine snorted off ebay's toiletseats has finally numbed mangement to the realities of how ebay works. Even worse than rate hikes or feedback skewing is the way the new Best Match search engine HIDES rare and one-of-a-kind items-- ebay's stock in trade!!!No-- I don't really think they are out to get sellers, I just think they really, REALLY don't understand their own site. |

What in the world are they thinking! Kind of defeats to whole point of feed back. Just one more reason to stop using ebay. |
