eBay Hacker Vladuz Gets Suspended Sentence

Maybe the sentence included "time served" as he has already been in the clink for two years waiting for his trial.

Um, was it ebay's accounts or accounts belonging to sellers? And did ebay lose $2 million or was it the poor sellers stuck holding the bag?

As far as the damage that was done to eBay, I'm surprised they admitted what they did. Must have been investigative costs. Sending Rob Chesnut to Romania couldn't have been cheep!

Vladuz literally tore eBay into pieces hacking auctions by the thousands! I'm sure eBay's sellers lost a ton, not counting the buyers that sent payment for non existent goods by Western Union!

I suspect a significant portion of their alleged $2M loss paid the overtime to the employees involved in ebafia's massive denials and cover ups and for new spit and bailing wire for their 'security.'

As usual, ebafia's incompetence and (continuing) lack of sufficient security helped to defraud both buyers and sellers.

Today, ebafia itself defrauds us all with NO help from Vladuz.

Ebafia: another evil corporation that embodies all that's wrong with this country.

I always found Vladuz rather entertaining, especially because it was just ebay he screwed with and they HATED him... lol :D

The kid saw how evil ebay was, even back then... I give him major props for pissing them off! lol :D

Credit card numbers were also posted. Many were later shown to be VALID!

And it took eBay well over an hour to shut the board down.

I was one of the people, whose eBay account was hacked by Vladuz, so I don't find it funny
at all. I had over 200 listings up and was actually listing more, when suddenly, all of my items
were gone and instead, there were bicycles listed for sale.

Back then, you could contact eBay by phone easily and they closed my account immediately.
BUT it then took 7 months, to get refunds for all the fees I paid, for the deleted listings. There
was no consideration for me having to relist everything and the time it took, to do so. Not even
an “I’m sorry”, from eBay.

EBay knew all about Vladuz but he was smarter than anyone, they had on their payroll, so his
hacking continued, long after my account was hacked. They should have been held responsible
for the havoc Vladuz caused, since they allowed their site to be vulnerable and couldn't stop him.

I am livid that the “so called” courts allowed him to skate, with only probation. IF you still sell on
eBay, he will start again and you may be his next victim.

There were so many ppl hacking into ebay at that time, I highly doubt it was all Vladuz (thus the weak sentence). Many accounts have been hijacked while Vladuz was in prison -- and still are -- and many were hacked prior to his appearance. Ebay has security about as sturdy as wet rice paper. (kind of like their morals)

Vladuz made public the security flaws in ebays system, what the media felt compelled to BURY all these years. For how long did people suspect that are credentials were being compromised when it went through a 3rd party pass through. If it weren't for people like him, this company would still be using fraud as a business model and not fixing ANYTHING
