eBay announced its first Seller Release of 2012 on Tuesday, and UK sellers are also impacted. eBay UK sellers will find an increase in Final Value Fees in technology categories and will see a reduction in Top Rated Seller discounts.

Beginning May 3, eBay will increase the final value fees for listings in the following categories from 3% to 5%: Computing; Consumer electronics; Photography; Mobile & home phones; and Video games, excluding games. In addition, eBay will reduce discounts for Top Rated Sellers, which vary depending on PowerSeller level, from their current rate of between 20% - 30% to between 10% - 20%. eBay will continue to give listings from Top Rated Sellers an average boost of 20% in Best Match search visibility.

eBay UK is also expanding the number of categories covered by eBay Buyer Protection: Custom made items (delivered within 45 days); Airline flight tickets; Licences; Anything equivalent to cash (including retail gift cards); and Gift certificates.

Some changes include those announced on eBay.com, including an automatic 5-star DSR for communication in situations where no communication took place between the buyer and seller from 14 days before the transaction up until the point that Feedback was left, including messages within My eBay and any opened cases

The eBay UK Seller Release also included news about advertising eBay is running on sellers' paid item pages as part of a test.

See the announcement for full details on the eBay UK Spring Seller Release.
