Amazon Vice President of European Retail Greg Greeley said in the statement, "Customers in more than 100 countries enjoy The Book Depository's vast selection, convenient delivery and free shipping. The Book Depository is very focused on serving its customers around the world, and we look forward to welcoming them to the Amazon family." According to its website, The Book Depository is the UK's "largest dedicated online bookseller," offering over six million unique titles, available for shipping within 48 hours to over 100 countries. It supplies books from publishers, distributors and wholesalers, and from other retailers, as well as republishing books that are no longer in print using its Dodo Press imprint. "Founded in 2004 to make "All Books To All" we focus on selling "less of more" rather than "more of less", differentiating ourselves from other retailers who increasingly focus on bestsellers," the company states. The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. |
