PayPal is rolling out a new Checkout for merchants using its Website Payments Standard service. Merchants received an email this week that stated, "After years of research and investment, we're excited to bring you a new checkout to help your customers check out even more easily."

PayPal's Anuj Nayar said the company had been testing the new checkout since May and just started rolling it out to Website Payments Standard. The company will transition all WPS merchants by November 1, 2010. PayPal will roll out the new checkout to PayPal Express Checkout merchants next year.

There is a consistent look and feel in the new checkout - "consistency is critically important," Nayer said. Merchants do not need to take any action, but can upload their logos and set up background colors on the new Checkout.

The new checkout is part of PayPal's longstanding commitment to merchants, Nayer said - "the new checkout is faster and feels more natural to customers."
