New Etsy Feature Sends More Traffic to Shops

Etsy rolled out a new feature on Monday that helps members discover new shops. A new tab called "Suggested Shops" makes personalized recommendations of shops the buyer may like based on his or her Favorites and those of members with similar taste to theirs. Suggestions are updated daily and won't be duplicated to the same shopper.

The feature is a result of Etsy's acquisition last year of Adtuitive, a contextual advertising service that matched retailers' inventory with content sites. Etsy said the Suggested Shops feature is a first step toward a more personalized Etsy experience, and said there would be more to come.

The timing of the announcement is somewhat ironic, as eBay announced on the same day it was eliminating a signpost leading its shoppers to eBay Stores.
