In another sign of eBay's focus on fixed-price listings, the company is eliminating its bid-groups auction tool that allowed buyers to bid on multiple similar items in succession. Bid Assistant gave bidders a better chance of winning an item they want in a specified period of time, without the risk of winning more than one item. eBay said it was removing the tool as part of its ongoing efforts to simplify the site and remove features that have very low usage.

Starting the week of September 15th, links to Bid Assistant will be removed from Item pages and from My eBay, and buyers will no longer be able to create new groups of items within the tool. The Bid Assistant tool will be removed from the site entirely in mid-October.
