In January 2012, EcommerceBytes surveyed over 7,200 online sellers and asked them to rate the marketplaces on which they had experience selling. An introduction to the Sellers Choice survey along with a summary of the overall ratings can be found here, along with links to results for each of the 16 online marketplaces included in the survey.

Summary:
Addoway is a new entry in Sellers Choice, placing ninth in overall rankings, with profitability its weakest area (4.5). A majority of respondents reported few sales on the site, though many were also enthusiastic or hopeful about its future potential. It earned its highest marks in ease of use, but also scored relatively well for communication and customer service.

Addoway launched in 2010 and has incorporated social networking into its platform. The comments are typical for a new marketplace (low sales, need more advertising) and speak for themselves.

Reader Comments - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly:
It is easy to list and customer service is great.
***
I like the website looks, hows things organized. They're also not as strict as eBay and Amazon.
***
Addoway is by far the most economical and versatile storefront I have. It has a strong support system with fun and helpful great top level executives. And awesome tools, can live without my RSS.
***
With Fredrick Nijm at the helm, this eCommerce venue continues to grow in a positive direction and is poised to be the next eBay ONLY BETTER.
***
Addoway is a very compassionate growing online venue that has excellent service and members. The team at addoway rolls in needed changes only after they are as close to perfect as possible meaning less headache in changes and sawesome functioning. The addoway team sincerely cares about its company, sellers and buyers.
***
I would recommend Addoway bc it is fairly easy to use and there are no fees to list, low fees when you sell, and the people who work there are very attentive, I would say best customer service so far. I have tried a lot of venues since 2003.
***
I was skeptical at first, but then I finally listened to friends and tried it and now I will never be a skeptic again. The staff is wonderful and I am getting more orders here then anywhere else and it only took 4 months.
***
I am pleased in the integrity and growth of Addoway being a new site it just keeps getting better and better. "They" listen and are interested in everyone's success...I think it will be the site of the future.
***
I am a new seller on Addoway, so the profitability isn't there yet, but based on my sales so far, it looks like it is going to be profitable in the future. This is a relatively new selling venue, so the ease of use for the seller is still being refined. Overall, I am extremely happy with this site. The seller customer service is beyond exceptional.
***
I just joined Addoway a few weeks ago. I found it to be very easy to list and to navigate around. I already has two sales and I am very pleased with this site. I don't know much yet about this site, but find it very a very comfortable place.
***
I've been selling there for less than 1 month and have 2 sales! No problems collecting money! Yay!
***
They are small and haven't gotten the traffic yet, but this is the alternative site that I feel has the most potential because of their customer service and ability to improve their site daily with all of the changes that we face.
***
Excellent customer service, very pro active. This is a feature rich marketplace that's easy to use and migrate inventory into it.
***
Customer service is the best I have ever experienced. They actually listen to the sellers and understand our needs. In a time where top rate customer service is hard to find, Addoway goes above and beyond to make sure their sellers are happy and prosperous.
***
Any time I have any problems or questions, they are quick to solve the problem or answer my questions. It's a great place to sell and I'm happy to be there. The site itself could be made just a little easier to get to things like feedback and it would be very nice to have true calculated shipping in our listings instead of guessing what to put in by region and hoping for the best.
***
I have been a member of Addoway since 2010 and have had nothing but an excellent experience listing and with their customer service.
***
Easy to transfer listing on other sites, make the sales and the support is good.
***
Addoway has so far been the best site I've ever sold on. Ease of creating a listing, response time to questions or problems from support and low cost for fees are top priorities. That and the fact that if there are any problems or issues they are not covered up but are directly addresses as quickly as possible. You can even get phone support if it's absolutely necessary which is another thing I really like.
***
A great site considering how new it is. Much easier to navigate than others and gets pretty good Google rankings for being so new. Reasonable fees too.
***
Addoway has been a great selling place but there are a few quirks that bother me. It's harder to crop pictures, they don't have a premade packaging slip, and on the front page you can't click through to the items that they are advertising. Other than that it's a good place to sell.
***
This is a brand new selling venue for me - my newest - but I have made some good priced sales on here so far. Yet to see what a little more time enables as far as regular sales. I am prepared to wait.
***
The messages sent to a seller need to be confirmed with email before they are actually sent..too redundant. It should be sent directly.
***
Page and listing views were limited to tweeted pages/listings only. Ease of importing from other online marketplaces. Fast response from cs department.
***
The lack of a shopping cart feature on this site is one of the only negative things I have found
***
Addoway is a great site, I just don't move alot of items there like I used to. Items I sell are not "needs", they are "luxuries" and can be a bit pricey. Advertising is the key to reach more people and I just don't think they spend much on commercial advertising. We tweet and post to facebook, as sellers, but that only goes so far...
***
Site kept freezing and crashing my browser and site had my 460 items sent to google without allowing me to edit or resolve site issues with my system.
***
We loaded our full product line on to Addoway about 2 weeks ago now and nothing. Hence why we've rated it as unprofitable (no sales). It was quick and easy to load products but as for everything else, no action leads to no results leads to no opinions!
***
Because there is no shopping cart there is an extra step required to create an invoice or custom listing for multiple sales.
***
Unless you are a paid subscriber you don't get any exposure. I have not had one sale on Addoway and only one customer contacted me but the issue could not be resolved in time to help them buy.
***
The functions that copy items over don't copy the quantity nor the description even after multiple attempts. Items that are sold, aren't always paid for and that process goes on forever.
***
The problem with Addoway is that the site does not get enough traffic. I know that you need to promote myself, but any promotion that I do just does not work.
***
Relatively new site and you need a facebook account w/lots of friends. Not so cool with my name on public display in a selling arena.
***
I had trouble selling on this site. I had taken the paid monthly plan & I still didn't sell. The site is very easy to use & the founders are wonderful. It just did not work for me.
***
I think it is hard to navigate, and no seller support for non paying buyers. I have had more NPB, than in any place in 15 years.
***
Customer service is excellent but would appreciate more advertising or promotions showing my products.
***
Just didn't have much luck selling my handcrafted jewelry there. Just a very few sales. (like 5 sales in 6 months)
***
I tried Addoway for 6 months without a single sale and very little traffic. General common tools you get on most selling sits for free you are required to pay for on Addoway (including traffic tracking using Google Analytics).
***
Only problem I've ever had was the lack of a good shopping cart for the customers to check out more than 1 item at a time.
***
Like any relatively new site, Addoway has its share of glitches that need fixing. Search is an abomination. Entering a search term yields pages of items that are unrelated to what the search was for.
