First Item Sold Online: Collecting Atari Pays Off
By Ina Steiner
Do you remember the first item you ever sold online? Let us know by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we may publish your story. Today we hear from a seller who, like many online sellers, began as a collector.
I started out collecting Atari stuff around the same time I started my account on Ebay around 6 years ago. Anyway, I put an ad in the local Flyer seeking Atari stuff and a lady called who's dad had passed away and left behind an Atari collection. I went to check it out and it included: Atari 130XE like new in the box, Atari 130XE loose, Three Atari 800's, Two 1050 drives and three of the 810 drives, lots of software and some extras. I was excited beyond belief and she took $125.00 for the whole lot!
Sure enough, the first week I auctioned anything it was one of the Atari 800's with an 810 Drive and Koala Pad....the same week I auctioned the Atari 130 XE in the box to an international bidder. More than doubled my money in the first week. That started my hobby of collecting and selling, I still have one of the Atari 800's in near mint condition. Can't seem to part with it . I've never equaled that experience, came close one time with a guy selling off all his old Apple computers at a garage sale. Very cool!
