Online sellers are used to being on the receiving end of feedback and are frequently rated on a range of criteria like speed of delivery. But sellers rarely have the opportunity to rate the marketplaces on which they sell, and that's why EcommerceBytes published the first Sellers Choice Awards 5 years ago.
Online sellers are once again invited to nominate online marketplaces in what is the fifth annual EcommerceBytes Sellers Choice Awards. Once the nominations are tallied, sellers will rate the top 16 marketplaces on a variety of criteria, and the results of Sellers Choice will be published in the EcommerceBytes Update newsletter.
While eBay and Amazon have dominated online marketplace sales for many years, there have always been alternatives, including auction sites, niche sites, classifieds sites and storefronts - and even mainstream retailers like Sears and Staples have opened their ecommerce sites to marketplace sellers. In fact, there are more choices now for multi-channel sellers than ever before, even though the top two players remain firmly in place.
With the annual awards, sellers not only rate the marketplaces they use, they can also read the results and see what their peers think of other marketplaces, making Sellers Choice an import resource as they evaluate additional channels on which to sell.
In the nominations phase, please select up to five online marketplaces you've used. Then (within 2 weeks), we'll ask you to rate the top-nominated marektplaces on profitability, customer service, communication and ease of use. Some readers may ask why a particular marketplace wasn't included in the list of marketplaces - there is option for sellers to write in candidates during the nomination process.
Readers are encouraged to notify marketplaces about Sellers Choice and help spread the word. Each year, greater numbers of sellers participate in Sellers Choice as they welcome the opportunity to cast their own votes and read the ratings of their peers.
Sellers Choice is your only opportunity to rate online marketplaces, so be sure to participate in the nominations process now by going to SurveyMonkey to select up to 5 marketplaces, and we'll let you know when the rating process begins.
