eBay Extends Free Photos to UK Sellers

Email This Story to a Friend

eBay is making it free for sellers in the UK to upload photos on their listings - beginning August 1, 2013, sellers will be able to upload up to 12 pictures to each listing for no charge. eBay had made photos free for sellers on eBay.com a year ago (July 2, 2012) to take the sting out of new, more stringent, picture requirements.

The UK marketplace is also phasing out Picture Pack. It will be free for the month of August and will no longer be available as of August 31st. eBay UK explained, "You'll still be able to enhance your listings by purchasing Supersize which will remain at the same price as before."

eBay is putting increasing emphasis on photo quality and is requiring sellers to comply with new photo standards. eBay.com introduced them in February of last year but did not begin enforcing the new standards in the U.S. until this week. Sellers in the UK will have until the fall to comply with the new photo standards. As with eBay.com sellers, sellers on eBay UK must upload at least one picture to their listings when the new standards are enforced.

eBay has said it will increasingly use image quality as a factor in Best Match, eBay's default sort order in search results that considers a number of factors when determining in which order to rank listings.

eBay UK explained how to upload photos, and the full announcement can be found on the eBay UK announcement board.
