eBay UK informed users on Monday that it had expanded its protection for buyers on Sunday, April 1, 2012. "We've expanding the number of categories covered by eBay Buyer Protection," eBay UK wrote, "helping to increase confidence in buying on eBay."

eBay added Custom made items, airline flight tickets, "licences," anything equivalent to cash (including retail gift cards), and gift certificates.

Buyers are now able to file a case under the eBay Buyer Protection Policy for items bought in these categories on eBay UK. The company told sellers it could affect their seller status. "If you have any open cases in these additional categories, try to resolve them now," it advised in the announcement.

eBay informed sellers through a post on the eBay UK Announcement board.
