eBay Australia told users it was introducing a new "eBay Fast N Free" designation to let buyers know at a glance which items ship for free and, based on the buyer's postage address and the item location, should arrive on their doorstep within four business days.

The eBay Fast N Free logo will appear on the View Item page of a listing when all the following requirements are met:

  • Both the buyer and the item are located within an Australian postcode (excluding Lord Howe Island NSW 2898, Norfolk Island NSW 2899, Christmas Island WA 6798, Cocos Keeling Islands WA 6799, Australian Antarctic Territories TAS 7151).
  • The seller is an eBay Top-rated seller.
  • The listing offers free postage.
  • Based on the seller to buyer postcode, eBay can estimate with a high level of confidence that the item will deliver within four business days.

Estimated delivery is currently shown on eBay.com.au as a range of days based on stated handling time plus the carrier's published service delivery time, which "often distorts the true picture of delivery," according to the announcement.

The eBay Fast N Free designation will launch on eBay.com.au in late February, more information is available on the eBay Australia website.
